Ali Zebeirovich Izmailov bor 04-04-1993 is a 5′ 11½″ Light Heavyweight/Cruiserweight with a 5-0 3 KO's record. Born in and fighting out of Malgobek, Republic of Ingushetia, Russia. To be perfectly honest. Ali has come from out of nowhere, sporting a lackluster nondescript amateur career he turned pro with zero fanfare. But even 6 matches into his short career, he's already proving to be a force to be reckoned with, because for an unproven prospect, he's not being matched easy. He took on Sukhotskiy, notable for his loss against Adonis Stevenson a few years back in his second match, and he shut him out for all 6 rounds. He followed that up with a dominant performance against the decent once beaten Sergei Ekimov, who'd only lost to Bolotniks to date. Once again, he beat him by near 8 round shutout, losing only one round on the official scorecards. But he really got my attention in his fifth match late in 2020, where he took on former Cruiserweight contender Ruslan Fayfer, who'd only debatably lost to Tabiti in what should have been a draw, and recently stopped by top Cruiserweight Papin. Ali dominated him for the majority of the match, finally beating him into submission in the 9th round. He's still learning, and he's far from perfect, he holds his left hand a little low. But he's still all around solid in every area, and even though he doesn't have crushing KO power, most of the guys he's faced have pretty good chins, and none of them have been all that willing to walk through his punches, so he seems to be very heavy handed. His jab is quick and snappy, he seems to have good stamina, decent defense, he keeps his chin tucked well, and he's very economical and patient, slowly taking his time to break down his opponents with his sharp accurate well placed punches. For a guy with only 5 fights, he shows incredible poise. So he's definitely got a good brain for boxing. So Check Out Ali in action.:ggg:ggg:ggg:ggg

I honestly read and watched the vid. He looks solid but time will tell. I'll give him a chance since he was born after the "Wall" fell, so he is no Soviet.

I think they've scrapped that idea, I went into this thread with that match in mind, but I couldn't find it listed anywhere now/

Yeah it was there not too long ago, I made a thread on it last week but alas it has disappeared from boxrec and even the post on twitter that announced it can't be found on my part.

Looks promising. He reminds me of Mayweather defensively. Shoulder roll and upper body movement. Don't like that he keeps his left hand so low. Thanks for the insight.

The division needs some new blood. He is a bit on the short side for a cruiser, but I'll be watching.

I think I've only seen the Fayfer fight but I was impressed by him in that. He usually comes in about 180 and the heaviest he's weighed in at is 183 so I imagine he'll be campaigning at 175.

Yeah, I was this close to making that comparison myself, but didn't feel like having to deal with Mayweather fanboys derailing the thread complaining. But yeah,as I mentioned, the low left hand freaks me out, he's gotten away with it thus far, and his defense is solid so far. But a better fighter at 175 or 200, wherever he ends up, will be able to exploit that.

I fear he might be a trapped tweener. He's a bulky guy, who looks like he probably has a hard time getting down to 175, but is also too small for 200. Kind of like present Kovalev. Who is scrawny at 175, but would be a pune at 200.

I do a lot of RBR's, including deep undercards. So I'm well versed in probably hundreds if not thousands of current fighters, all the journeymen, gatekeepers the difference in quality, and all the prospects they're being fed to, and which prospects take the scalp of the good ones. Couple that with knowing enough about who's getting buzz in the amateurs and following certain sites like Asian Boxing. Through osmosis, I just absorb a ton.

Also, I put together the Fight List for Kirk's League. When requires me to spend a degree of time digging through the underbelly of Boxrec's fight schedule, and I pick up on patterns easily, when some undefeated prospect's 0 is a mirage or if they're racking up low level quality wins.

Ok. You're deep into it then. I'm gonna check these sites out. I really don't follow the am's. The last Olympian that got me interested was Ward and that was because of the suprise factor. Prior to that was RJJ, Holyfield era.

According to the commentators here, Ali is being trained by Briedis' trainer. If that's the case, that's a good choice, that is if they're still working together.
