On February 26, 1958, at the age of 16, he was TKO'ed by Green.

This is what it states in the book by Thomas Hauser, "Muhammad Ali - His Life and Times"

Sixteen-year old Cassius Clay had been stopped in the second round of an amateur bout in Chicago by an older, more experienced opponent named Kent Green. Clay wasn't actually knocked down, but he was "getting shellacked pretty good," his coach Joe Martin later remembered. "I tend to stop fights a little earlier than most guys. I hate to see my boys hurt. He wasn't hurt, but he was gonna get hurt, so I threw in the towel."

Now, in early 1979, even Kent Green was mentioned as a possible opponent. He hadn't been in the ring for years. He'd never been a world-class amateur or professional fighter. But he was the only man to have knocked out Ali, and that was enough in the minds of some to warrant a return bout for revenge.

The Great White Hype is a very realistic movie.
