First fight his wife admitted he injured his shoulder before the fight and I'll cop flack but I agree.

Second fight he gave up,plain and simple. He fought 4 rounds with a broken jaw and Ali may have hit him on the chin, while on the tips of his feet, but Sonnys chin was bulletproof. Bad refereeing but Sonny quit man.

He may have quit, but whether the knockdown was fake or real, he beat the count.
He wasn't knocked out. The fight should have continued.

I posted a thread about this a long time ago maybe my first yr on the forum and nobody really took it serious

i feel Liston did not take a dive and that Ali did not go to the corner so Liston did follow the rules and did get up and the fight should have went on

A magazine editor should not be able to sway the ref

Yes, this should have been a NC. It was mostly Walcott's fault, but I blame Ali a bit, too. A fighter isn't supposed to go berserk in there like that. Walcott's job was to control this, which he failed to do. It wasn't the only time Ali refused to go to the corner. To be fair, I think Muhammad was shocked that Liston was down. Vitali K. also seemed pissed when Solis went down. I think a fighter knows when he's landed a KO punch and Ali knows he didn't. This is why you never heard him brag about this victory.

He may not have bragged about it, but whomever is running Alli's website is proud of it, and distorts the truth about it:

Muhammad Ali at his best, dancing, keeping Liston off balance. Lunging forward awkwardly, Liston’S jaw meets Ali’s anchor punch, sending the challenger down and out. Referee Jersey Joe Walcott has trouble coordinating the knockdown, but Liston doesn’t make it up to beat the count.
