Ali showed all us that fighting was not only a skill game but a mental game, and no better fight to demostrate that than Foreman fight...Bib Bad George vs. the seemingly over the hill Muhammed....yet he use his knowledge, George Foreman slowness and the conditions of weather and rope a dope to eventually KO Big Bad George... Now that said, I doubt that if the weather conditions were not in favor of the less bulkier Ali with high heat and huminity affecting the bulkier fighter, Big Bad George...and the busier figher Foreman, while Ali leisurely laid on the ropes.....The rope a dope would never been as effective as that night in Zaire...
I agree the weather helped Ali, but that was his night. If the weather had been different he would have found another way to put things to his advantage.
Orishaman, no disrespect but Big Bad George Foreman only weighted 4 pounds more than Ali that night... Ali came in at 216, and foreman at 220. So i think skills had more to do with it.
