Round 1

Egorov is creeping in, using a nice quadrilateral roll-in-place from waist to shoulders, his legs remaining fixed as he slams jabs into the high guard of Ventura. The much longer & taller Brazilian allows himself to be herded across the ring, with Egorov hazarding a few probing left hooks underneath his elbows. Ducking inside, Egorov pressuring with hooks up top now. Ventura responding with naught but some downward-slanting jabs from up by his own brow, caught wedged between Egorov's thumbs. NICE left rip downstairs by Egorov, buying himself passage inside. Ventura quickly sidesteps along the ropes and trades jabs, caught with a sneaky hook modified on the fly off a jab by Egorov, shaking Ventura slightly. Egorov is picking off Ventura's jabs, batting them down with the foreknuckle padding of his right glove. Ventura slides along the ropes and manages to poke a jab between the gloves, then lands a right on the stomach while pivoting away.

Round 2

Egorov is climbing up the lengthy forearms of Ventura, bundled against his chest and face as he leans backward and heel-toes away slowly, pecking with jabs on the ulna before soaring up top with right hands. Everything is blocked and yet the force of the blows is driving Ventura rapidly into the ropes with involuntary trots, allowing Egorov to work the body. Left hook on the body, light shoeshine on the guard, lulling Ventura with half-power straights, then blasting him with a hook on the jaw around his loosened guard. Ventura down. Egorov has a laser-focused look in his eyes as Ventura gets up and spoils until the bell.

Round 3

Egorov is slipping the long jabs of Ventura as he walks him down, straight into a corner. Ventura wisely breaks off to his left in time not to get trapped, but has to mind his p's and q's as each bit of attention he puts into his footwork is taking away from his very careful whole-body defense, as he now has come to realize that Egorov is equally dangerous & spiteful attacking high or low. Egorov indeed varies his altitude with each sortie, jabbing hard both straight out into the chest and reaching up high for Ventura's pate, over his gloves. Ventura is flurrying his way off the ropes and covering up as soon as he can to keep drifting clockwise around the ring. Ventura tries dropping in some 1-2s using the ropes for leverage, sagging his back into them, but Egorov blocks them and counters with his own. Neither man landing all that cleanly, both doing a lot of competent parrying & shot-blocking when the other man takes his turn offensively.

Round 4

Egorov is jabbing hard into the chest, knocking Ventura's wrists akimbo to either side. Egorov asking questions of Ventura's ability to elude him and not taking no for his answer, ripping big left hooks up top and drilling rights on the body diving in. Ventura allows himself to be pushed into a corner and blocks a series of jabs and rights, ambushing Egorov with a huge uppercut, partially landing but not having much effect on the hyper-focused predator. Egorov lands a right hand on the body under the guard and stiff jab up top, penetrating it. Nice combos by Egorov. Ventura on the ropes fending him off and crossing his arms over his face, looking for room to counter with his jab, but Egorov brushes his arms clear with an uppercut and smacks him upside the head with a hard cuffing hook and he is flopped onto his back under the bottom rope, lolling around, clearly unwilling to get up and suffer any more.

KO4!!!

 

Based on today's showings I'd definitely pick Egorov over Baloyev if they met anytime soon.
