Muhammad Ali wants to set the record straight: He has not picked Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao, who are scheduled to meet in one of the biggest fights in boxing history on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"It was reported that Muhammad Ali picked a favorite in the upcoming Mayweather-Pacquiao fight on May 2. Muhammad Ali would like to wish both Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao well in their upcoming fight," Ali family spokesman Bob Gunnell said in a statement given to ESPN.com on Thursday.

"Muhammad never offered to anyone his prediction, and information that was published earlier this week and picked up by other media is either a misquote or someone else's personal opinion. The stories saying that Muhammad Ali has chosen a favorite in the fight are false."

His daughter said he was "team pac all the way", and doesn't really respect Floyd as a nab, nobody said Ali picked a WINNER. Weasel words.

I believe all that Ali's daughter said was Ali liked Manny both inside & outside the ring but he didn't care for Floyd's lifestyle. Well what decent person admires Floyds lifestyle. Beating women, having an employee hurt bad because he mistakenly thought he stole from him. Throwing $$$$ to strippers & ho's making it rain as he calls it. Manny & Ali are very much alike they both gave big $$$$$$ to charities instead

    Who cares?

Most former boxers who I've read give an opinion on it are rooting for Pac and picking Pac to win.

Once again, I rhetorically ask "who cares?"

Most former fighters do want Pac to win as they do not want to see Floyd retire at 50-0 with $500 million in the bank whilst they have to sign gloves at $40 a pop to make ends meet.

Former fighters refuse to acknowledge great modern day fighters, they live in a bubble with rose tinted glasses. Tyson is one of the worst yet gets praised to the hilt, his broke ass never gives props when he should. always comparing today to "his era", well in "his era" he got his ass handed to him when he stepped up and fought the big boys that werent afraid to fight back.

Same with the fab 4, they are/were great no doubts about it. But they think they are unbeatable and would destroy anyone in the last 20 years.

I don't get it, is Ali not allowed to pick manny? Is this some black power pride thing?

All this back tracking and covering up is just pointless.

FWIW he clearly did make the prediction and then a few weeks later Ali was probably genuinely shocked to see it published, because he probably forgot he made a prediction

What does Floyd outside the ring antics have to do with his in the ring prowess? Nothing.

Indicentally Ali and Manny are very much alike as well. They were both very big on adultery. Does any of this have anything to do with them in the ring? No. Move on.

It was nothing but a rumor though it's obviously a poisonous one as its still ongoing despite Ali and his family's response.
