Ali saved a man from killing himself

I’d heard about that story, never read it in depth though until now, it’s a great read.

 

I drive past Freemont Place where Muhammad Ali lived at the time three times a week. I also drive past Wild Card Gym on the same trip.

 

He also persuaded Saddam Hussein to release the hostages in teh first Gulf War.

 

Louis Farrakhan told Ali's biographer, Jonathan Eig, that Ali was motivated by a need for celebrity as much as altruism. That's a bit too cynical. Ali definitely loved being famous, but he was also just a good guy. I knew journalists who spent significant time with him and they said he was such a fun guy to be around.
