I was at the fight and thought Ali did enough to win but watching the fight again. I can see Ali got hurt badly a few times and the fight was closer than I thought. Ali had everyone Bullshitted with his clown act and a lot of the officials were intimindated by him. That version of Ali would get Hammered by the Klitschko's...take your pick

I think that it was the fifteenth that clinched it for Ali.

Ali had Shavers ready to go in the last few seconds of the 15th. I thought Ali just edged Shavers in the scoring. And this fight, to me, gets underestimated by a lot of people when talking about some of Ali's greatest fights. Ali still had a lot left by this point; his hands were still fast and he could still throw blitzing combinations of punches. I don't think Ali was THAT shot, although he was way past his best.

Shavers landed a few bombs early on but, he got tired and never really followed up.... Shavers also allowed Ali to regroup and get his wind back..... The fight was close, but Shavers squandered the last two rds..... In my book, this was Ali's last supreme effort in the ring.............. By 1978, Ali was ill and fading.......... Ali really should've retired after his narrow win over Ernesto Shavers in '77..........

It would be great if stupid people acknowledged the fact that they were stupid and inane but then we wouldn't be talking to Sir Strokealot now would we?
