    Anyone have any?

How did Holmes do in the early 70's when he was "just" Ali's sparring partner?

Ali did an ungodly amount of exhibitions... How did they go?

I remember on Youtube a while ago there was a video of Dokes vs. Ali, in a exhibition.

Dokes got him against the ropes the entire time and basically beat a fat Ali around, badly.

did you know that jim brown the football player wanted to fight ali?they were both in england for the cooper2 fight i think, brown was doing colour commentary on fights at the time, ali told him to meet him while he was running.i guess they fooled around and when brown found out how fast ali's hands were he wanted to part of him

    Hah.

Yeah, Ali almost fought Chamberlain too.

Apparently a 19 year-old Cassius Clay schooled Ingemar Johansson in sparring in Miami, shortly before Johansson's third fight with Patterson.
    Too damned fast, of course.

    Ahaha.

Kind of reminds me of a teenage Whitaker taking apart the already pro and accomplished Camacho.

I saw the footage. Johansson looked very slow next to Ali.

Yes. I have seen Ali and Ingo sparring.

I also head a verified story that Ali once sparred with a kick boxer and was Knocked out cold.

Riddick Bowe when being built up for his pro career was being showcased to several investors, he was viewed by Shelley Finkel and sparred with Tyrell Biggs who battered him around so much Bowe left the gym with a rib injury..

Shelley nor the Duvas wanted any part of Bowe..

How long ago is it that you watched that video? Ali didn't even try, he just let Dokes hit him on the ropes to give a show. By no means did Dokes "beat" Ali.

Tao of Muhammad Ali author Davis Miller "Kickboxing champ/Karate legend Joe Lewis "met" Ali at a press conference for Ali's non-fight with Japanese wrestler Antonio Inoki. He told Ali that he couldn't take a real wrestler. Ali objected in what i assume was Ali's style. Joe immediately dropped Ali to the floor and tied him up." Joe didn't knock Ali out. Davis also has a good story of him sparring Ali in his book.

Ali was always pretty crap in sparring. A lot of the time he let his sparring partners bang his body and arms so he could condition them. Holmes would've learned a lot from Ali. All those years of sparring with Ali made him a much better fighter.
