When the fighter himself knows he has lost ,you can usually take it as a decisive defeat, imo.
Very sad fight for me ,allmost as bad as the Holmes torture.

i really don't know what you're talking about. Ali won the first few rounds. and no, I'm not biased, I scored it like i would score any fight, it was certainly still a crappy fight to watch
Ali himself said it was close

He was slurring when he talked to Mcilvanney afterwards , I think he was allready damaged by then . He is my no 1. I am just saying what I think ,watching from my seat at Leicester Sq, while Holmes surgically thrashed him , was the worst boxing memory I have outside the terrible fatalities .Watch the Berbick fight again, and tell me it was close.

Berbick won easy. Ali had nothing left.

If you watch his interviews with Michael Parkinson (yeah I know, ironic) you can see signs of his speech starting to go as early as 1974 after the Foreman fight. When he was interviewed in 1970-71 he was still fine.

Of course then there was the Manilla fight, and that was the last time Ali as we knew him appeared in a boxing ring.

I'll have to watch it again - but I think I'm with you on this Tommy - from memory (watched it about a year ago) - i was surprised because I'd always read it was one of the saddest most depressing things ever to see in a ring etc etc - but watching it I thought Ali was taking a lot of the rounds on his jab - right hand - it surprised me a lot from memory - i'll try watching it again in next few days maybe - but I'm fairly sure I might have scored to Ali by a round or something - which is pretty embarrassing for Berbick considering the state Ali was in at the time

It also shows that Tyson's win over Berbick was over-rated.

Not really, Berbick tried to mix it with Tyson ,which wasn't very smart ,but he had a top chin, only stopped by Bernado Mercado when he was caught cold .Berbick was coming off of wins over Thomas,Green and Bey.Tyson bounced him like a ball yet, after this fight ,Berbick was not stopped again.
