A 38 year old 235 pound non-diuretic version of Ali who trained for strength and durability vs. just trying to look young again? I would favor him over Cooney and it would be a very interesting fight.

you do realize, this actually happened in late ´77? (just prior to his first spinks bout)

as far as i know, no photos of this historic event ever surfaced (for legal reasons, i suppose).
but they made a comic book out of it, which was published in early ´78.

It was my dry-humored attempt at satirizing the whole "what if" hypothetical debates that I'm so sick of hearing. Seriously if all the zeal, passion and efforts we spend on this forum was put collectively towards building a time machine, we could finally put an end to these fantastical, conflict-ridden, pointless debates.

I am glad Ali did not fight Cooney at that time. Ali was great and Cooney overrated, but this a fight Cooney would have a good chance of winning. Why give Cooney the great win when he really would not have deserved it.
