Even though the physicians confirmed it Swag, then how come Jimmy Young felt no symptoms? George had all the time in the world to train just like Jimmy did, ll Foreman tried to do was be an imitation of Sonny Liston, scowling for the cameras, a waste of time of promoting a fight, that is why we have promoters. It is still Lame. Ha Ha.

Young didn't dehydrate himself, and didn't show up the day before the fight....like Foreman. Is it Foreman's fault? Yes. But pointing out someone clearly wasn't at their best isn't making excuses for them.

For example, Ali came in at terrible shape against Norton in their first bout. Was it his fault? Yes. But he was clearly not at 100%. You don't see people accuse Ali of making excuses.

Look at all the races where one of the runners collapses. How come they all don't?

Come on Rich, surely that Liston scowl scared you just a little!

I did not when Muhammad Ali lost to Ken Norton on March 31 1973 and suffered a broken jaw. This friend of mine who knew that I have always favored Ali called me on the phone immediately afterwards just to get my goad, H said: Your Hero Got His Butt Kicked, How Do You Feel About That? I calmly told him : The Better Man Won Tonight, A Good Win For Ken Norton. There was dead silence for about 15 seconds, then my friend said : See You Later Rich. But you were right, Foreman was the Dumb Cluck for trying to promote his fight, that is what a promoter is for. I previously posted that conversation of my friend trying to give me some grief about Ali when he lost to Norton. If someone did not train for a fight then loses, tough cookies for them, I feel sorry for no one in that case, their fault. anyhow I was glad that Jimmy Young beat George Foreman, it was an easy $10.00 that I won, I collected a crisp $10.00 dollar bill.

Hey like I said, I saw Liston following my open heart surgery on Jan 21 2020, even the nurse in the room followed him and he disappeared. She was an older nurse that was a sports fan, she too said he looked like Liston. He even gave me that scowl as he pulled me up in bed, then winked. I laid there in shock, and I was fully awake. My wife told me that because I post in the Classic that probably Liston paid me a visit to tell the other posters about it. The other staff members checked at the hospital they could not find a male tech assigned to me.

That's what they are saying Ha Ha. I actually thought I was hallucinating, logical explanation but the nurse in the ICU recovery room saw him and followed him. That Liston scowl was pretty scary, the wink calmed me down. Like I posted, the staff could not explain the presence of a male tech assigned to my room. I should have told Liston, Float Like A Butterfly, Sting Like A Bee. Maybe not.

His face appeared just like in the older photos, that tech uniform, scrubs were skin tight. His stare as he was pulling me up was scary. I actually thought that I Did not make it from the open heart surgery and I was where Sonny might be, truthfully.

Ali left a good portion of his body and soul in that ring in Manila in 75...as did Frazier.

Neither man had much left after that .

Thirty-four was considered quite old fifty years ago.

Manila was his last hurrah. It's amazing to me he went 7-1 over the next three years.

IMO, he went 6-2 as I thought Norton won their third fight.

He would have been foolish to rematch 28 year old Foreman when he himself was nearing 36.

And as far as facing 31 yr old Holmes, when he was nearing 39 and had Parkinson's...:shakehead:

He doesn't leave the ring vertically in 1974 either.

So you met the ghost of Sonny Liston ?

You didn't happen to ask him what happened to him on New Year's Eve, 1970 ?

If only Ali agreed to the rematch, George clamoured for throughout 1976, then this thread could have been analysing the actual fight.
