We know Ali won, but was that a lucky win or would he have won a majority if they fought 10 times. Some believe it was just a lucky night and Foreman would've won more times than not... others believe Ali would also have Foreman number... thoughts?

I personally thought the ropes played a huge role in the outcome as did Foreman's decision not to pace himself. If going forward the ropes were not loose, and Foreman learned from his mistakes, I think he's have won most of the fights, assuming he was fighting that version of Ali.

I never felt that Ali was lucky to win.

Foreman had stylistic issues with boxers, but worse he was totaly untested over the distance. His team did him a grave disservice by matching him so easily in the run up to his title fight, because although they created a monster, they created one without the tools to win a drawn out fight.

Foreman had these two key weakneses that were waiting to be exploited, and Ali was the man to exploit them.

I always felt Ali could outbox and outlast him down the stretch without the tactic. Maybe not stop him or win as dramatically, but win all the same.

2/10 times Foreman catches Ali with an unbelievable righthand flushly on teh chin And its goodnight vienna.

I mean a haymaker what would knock anybody cold as a frozen fish, Foreman has that kind of raw power.

I'd bet Ali 10 out of 10, and if I lost once, I'd be surprised. But then again fighters can make adjustments and learn, and someone with Foreman's raw strength and freakish power always has a chance. Foreman's training got hindered by the cut, he had to deal with the loose ropes, the crowd and fans that hated him, being in a foreign country that he did not want to be in but was forced to remain until the fight took place, and a referee that allowed Ali to pull his head incessantly. Change all those factors, plus the benefit of hindsight, and if Foreman paces himself better and picks his punches more, with a more neutral referee, it could be a more competitive fight. How much more we'll never know for sure.

    Ali won the 1st.
It only gets easier after that.

Ali ruined Foreman. George admits that Ali stole his heart.

He beats him consecutively easier each time. Possibly 10/10 wins.

Its not inconceivable a studious, determined, fortunate George COULD do what it took to get the W over the distance, but without his confidence and with fear of Ali, it would never happen.

Ali would beat him 10/10 i think even the version of ali holmes fought wouldve beaten George, let him tire himself out then push him over...

That Ali and that Foreman 10 out of 10, although Foreman probably gets him around '77 onwards

Foreman is a huge puncher, so I guess he might win two out of ten times. It's just guesswork though -- that Ali in general had too much toughness, too much handspeed and too much mental fortitude for any Foreman.
