Well if you watched it 20 times, you'd know that had the ropes not been looser than they were suppose to be, than Foreman would have connected a significant number of times during that fight, probably enough to change the outcome but who knows for sure.

I know the ropes were loose, and Foreman was drugged, and it was really hot, and blah blah ****ing blah, Foreman got his ass whooped, didn't land a single shot, and Even if they fought 100 times Ali would win just about every time

LOL, what about those countless lead straight right hands Ali landed at WILL, is that a fault of the ropes too ?

What is puzzling to me is in every Foreman post everyone raves about his freakish power, can he crack , sure, but the old saying is that the last thing a fighter looses is his power so how come he could not finish glasschinned/so so chin fighters Stewart/Saverese/Schultz despite hitting them with the kitchen sink.........and please, he was not gone when he faced those ham and eggers.

Anyway Big George was the "Big" guy around that time same as Liston was the "Big" while fighting former middleweights, the problem for both was that Ali was also a "Big" guy with skills and chin and not some undersized half starved fighter figthing from payckeck to paycheck.

In conclusion, Foreman is a very poor boxer in that sense similar to Pac, if standing right in front of him, trading /slugging, yeah they succeed but put ANY type of movement on them with Boxing skill on them they are **** out of luck.

The funny thing is Ali did stand right in front of Foreman especially on the ropes but settle movement made George miss or just glance........he did not have the Ring IQ to adjust or even to consider a change because he can't. Fact.

Frazier said "Foreman is fighting foolish" , that hit the nail on the head..........he always fought foolish .

In a rematch, particularly if it had been in 1975,the bout wouldno doubt be held in a cooler enviroment with a harder ring surface. Therefore Ali would dance a lot more than he did in Zaire, and build points up with his jab in George's face, much like the first time. George would be wary if Ali went to the ropes this time,so he would try to keep in the centre of the ring. This would play into Muhammad's hands.

Foreman had disadvatae of being in African country that was dicatorship, with Ali as hero, and let's not forget that when he got cut in training, postponing fight, they wanted to take him back to states to recover an see doctor, were met by troops saying Foreman was not allowed to leave country. After that, he really lost a lot of confidence.

That's your opinion. My opinion is that loosing the ropes made a hell of a difference in the outcome of the fight.

I don't know if it would have changed the final result but it very well could have. I watched Ali when I was a kid, and I enjoyed watching him, but unlike many on this site, I never felt he walked on water. Obviously you do.

As much as I've always liked George,he was never the most cerebral fighter. His main asset was his sheer power and brute strength, and he knew it. He tried a different ballgame when he fought Jimmy Young, pacing himself for a long drawn out fight, yet fell short. The Young fight could have been the pointer for a second Ali-Foreman bout.
