I think that if they ever fought, Foster could possibly have cut Jerry, but he would have brought out the very best in Quarry, who would have been motivated by revenge...to decapitate Foster for what he did....and I think he would have done something close to that...maybe reverting to his form vs Thad Spencer or that other Foster...or maybe even his Buster Mathis form...en route to brutally ko'ing Foster.

Jerry would have stopped Foster circa 73.

Foster would not have had time to cut Jerry. you know Bonavena's mentioned big on a bout with Quarry, well ringo never knocked out a ranked fighter, defeated 4 under some highly scrutinized conditons, yet he'll Beat Jerry, same with Joe Bugner, and Bob Foster, BUG LOST TO BODELL, MIDDLETON, LYLE and Shavers, YET HE CAN BEAT QUARRY!, Foster never beat a heavyweight, yet he can beat Quarry!-Jerry would have beaten Bob, easier than Foster beat Mike Quarry!

I remember the ring was mic'd up pretty well and the sound of Ali's punches landing was notable.

I thought this was the sharpest Ali looked after 1967.

Patterson had snuck into #3 win over Bonavena! Foreman was number #4. Big George was they number #1 contender for the WBA at the Frazier-Ali battle of the century. Ali had to go to court to get his ranking #1 back, and did not win it until July 1971. Quarry beat two ranked guys in England . moved up to #2 At his second Ali bout. They cited George did not fight contenders, yet Gregorio Peralta (twice), George Chuvalo (#3) , And I believe even Boone Kirkman WAS #10. All ranked when Foreman beat them.

Ali dominated Quarry in both of their bouts. The idea that Quarry could have came on to beat Ali during the later stages of their second bout is complete hogwash. Jerry was beaten to a pulp when the bout was stopped. Ali was fresh.

I watched those two fights and the impression I got was one of an extremely overmatched boxer being played with as a cat plays with a mouse. The difference is that this cat didn't want the fun to end so soon the second time around.

The FIRST fight was where it was thought that maybe Quarry would have a chance to come on late to beat Ali. Not the 2nd fight.

Ali said himself he was way too tired after only 3 rds and wondered what would have happened if the fight had gone the distance.

Quarry was in much worse shape than Ali. He was taking a bad beating. Ali was untouched.
