Marciano gives Ali a tough fight but Ali wins it, Marciano couldn't apply pressure on the same intensity as Joe Frazier due to his crouch and slower hands and feet, which will be enough to give Ali the edge, I see a lot of ppl making a big deal about Frazier's "one handedness" as if that's relevant, Frazier specialised in the left hook which was a punch that troubled Ali, Marciano was more of a right handed puncher even though he had a powerful left hook, so Frazier's dependence on a left hook was better for dealing with Ali.
"Marciano's gloved fists broke blood vessels and bones in LaStarza's arms and elbows. First the arms grew heavy, then they began to ache awfully, then they grew numb. As the relentless battle wore on, LaStarza found it harder and harder to raise his arms, much less jab with them or punch with them. His hands lowered, his defense dissipated, Marciano began to punish him about the head. LaStarza began to take a terrible beating." Bill Libby, "The Story of a Champion", 1971. "I would throw a hard punch, then he would throw a hard punch. The difference was that Rocky would throw 10 more. He just never stopped throwing punches." - Roland LaStarza
The problem with this mythical Marciano seems to me to be the assumption he was impervious to pain, and couldn't be in any way deterred. Any version of Ali would be out landing Marciano 4 to 1. These punches don't need to be full force blows, all they need to do is keep Marciano honest enough to stop him from setting himself to throw his own. Everyone appears to believe Ali has to KO Marciano to win. Garbage, he simply peppers Marciano's face with faster more accurate punches until the wide UD is announced. Even the La Starza quote goes along with this ****. " I would throw a hard punch, he would throw a hard punch " blah, blah, blah. Do people really believe Ali would be stupid enough to stand and slug it out with Marciano, when he knows he can just use his head as a speed bag, back off, come in and do the same again?
Prime Marciano with his low crouch, bobbing and weaving style would make a tough target to hit consistently.
I don't see how these quotes interact with my post or how posting quotes makes an argument, look I can play this game too "Jimmy Jacobs, who owned the worlds largest collection of fight films, said that on film tests with a synchronizer Alis jab was faster than that of Sugar Ray Robinson. Jacobs contended that Ali was not only the fastest heavyweight, but also the fastest fighter he ever saw on film" "Historian Don Cogswell wrote, (IBRO Journal # 81), Muhammad Ali, in his first title reign, presented such a speed disparity between contestants as to appear supernatural. The flurry that dropped a befuddled Brian London in the third frame, the right that stopped an earnest Zora Folley in the 7th, presented by the right that immediately preceded it (seen by Angelo Dundee and a few others,) suggested that Ali was operating in another time zone. What relevance does any of this have to a fight?, please less quotes and more arguments
