No, I highly doubt it was fixed. They filmed numerous different endings which were postulated as having given likelihoods by the compter. The version shown in Europe did have Ali winning (as he wasn't nearly so hated in Europe and that outcome was actually more acceptable to the public), but the account of the actual producers was that the original computer prediction had as its most likely outcome a 13th-round KO for Marciano.

Frazier and Terrell also called Ali "Clay" persistently. Frazier stills calls him Clay in his 1990s autobiography! But if a white man calls him Clay, it must be racism?:huh

I like the ending where Marciano thought he had won, only for Wallace to low blow The Rock and nick the money from the machine, before the Brockton Blockbuster knew what had happened! Thus Wallace as well as defeating Marciano was also one of the even fewer to get money off of him!;)

I do remember it, but as I recall, he didn't refer to her by the name "Elizabeth Taylor."

    He called her "Cleopatra."

Marciano has much less of a chance against Ali than Lewis, Holmes, Tyson, and even Dempsey.

Thats where you are wrong the Rock had the stamina, 2 fisted power and double hook, strong mind, conditioning and Heart and determination, recup power and pressure to give Ali the most troubling fight outside of Joe Louis, Dempsey had a hell of a hook (Ali's Kryptonite

Yes, but the things Rock never had even a decent amount of are what go against him in this matchup, speed and reach, especially speed.

Rocky's speed was underrated and his seemingly random unorthodox controlled mayhem style was very effective. If speed and reach were such a problem he would not have fared so well against Charles and Moore. If Frazier could give Ali fits, I have no doubt that Marciano would as well and possibly then some.

I saw Lou Duva (Marciano's good friend) several years ago in an interview talk about that TV computer fight. I think it went something like, Lou said there were some real moments of action and Rocky handled it surprisingly well. He went on to say something to the effect that if they were both prime, Marciano would give Ali a Hell of a fight and quite possibly win. I know Lou has a knack for theatrics but it got me thinkin. Anyone else remember Lou's comments?

I think he's more of a hypocrit. He was more of a "do as I say, not as I do" kind of person.

Marciano did not depend on his speed but his speed is highly underated, look at the walcott fight exchanges,Marciano was right there with him with his combo's and beat J.J. to the punch in the fatal 13th. Against Moore he took his time and relied on his power but look at his double and triple hooks and the right hand that finished Joe Louis came very fast after the hook. He did not have shoeshine speed(for effect) but had it to deliver lethal power(see Charles 2)
