I know it's been discussed before, but not for a while, so what do you think?
Would Ali outclass Rocky with speed or does Marciano have a genuine chance?

    Similar to the Clay-Cooper fight

Ali gets dropped for being ****y, gets back up and wins on cuts.

It would be a very competitive fight, which could perhaps go either way.

That last video makes me laugh, at the end of the show when the presenter introduces a young Jamaican boxer to show Ali his talents, Ali looks at him gone out and says he's no good, they have a little play spar and Ali shouts "you're not as dumb as you look." The kid is fuming when he sits down hahahaha.

I think Ali deserves to start favourite here. Rocky has a real chance though.

If they fought a lot of times Ali would win the series but Rocky was good enough to win a share of fights himself. Just Ali has more advantages and would come out on top in a series I think.

Oscar Bonnavena was competative and he was not in Rockys class. People will say Ali was coming off a lay off (which he was) but he was also coming off a world class win over a prime Jerry Quarry. If you compare the Quarry win with Ali's wins over his 1960s challengers on paper the Quarry win is as good as anything he did before the exile. On paper.

Bonnavena was horrible to fight and would always be an awkward night for prime Ali. Hurky jurky, clumsy, low down and bull like with weird punches coming from unexpected angles. Nothing predictable about him at all. Same with Rocky. Only much, much better.

Against Bonavena, Ali was going in with 3 and a half rounds of ring practice and three and a half years of inactivity before it.You can't make a valid comparison from that.
Ali jabs Marciano at will and stops him via tko on cuts in the 10th rd.

He might do. He might not.

How do you think Bonnavena gets on against a 1966 Ali?

If it was a simple as that Ali would have jabbed Bonavena at will too and stopped him on cuts but Ali found Bonavena awkward. I don't think Oscar was nearly as awkward as Marciano would have been.

I am very interested in how you feel Bonavena would have done against a 1966 Ali?

I agree bonavena won't beat ALi at any time but I don't get how you think against a 1966 Ali Oscar goes the full 15 and Rocky cant? Especially since Ali did stop Oscar in 1971 albeit in the very last round.

I am concluding from your prediction that you also feel Bonavena would still be an awkward handfull for the 1966 Ali since you say 1966 Ali wins on points.

Therefore, If Bonavena is always an awkward 15 round opponent for the very best version of Ali I think it is safe to say Rocky Marciano, worse case scenario, does as well against Muhammad Ali as Oscar Bonnavena.

ALI won't jab Bonavena at will stop him in 10 on cuts and he won't jab Marciano at will and stop him in 10 on cuts either.

Rocky was harder to hit with a jab and a lot lot better than Bonavena.

Marciano cut a damnsight more easily than Bonavena.I dont think Bonavena would always be an awkward opponent for Ali as I've already said he faced a severely ring rusty Ali and that was the main factor in the fight being competitive.

Bonavena was outboxed by inferior versions of Ali in Ellis and a 37 years old Patterson, he gave Ali trouble simply because Ali was ring rusty.

Marciano wasnt hard to hit with a jab an ancient Joe Louis had no problem tagging him with it.
