I just watched that crap... How the hell does Marciano KO Ali in his prime? I just don't agree with that... Marciano was to slow and small!

    Any thoughts?

  2. You realize that Marciano you saw was old right?

Ali is my #1 alltime great. However, I would have to flip a coin to choose pick a winner in Ali vs. Marciano, as I think he would present more opposition than the pain in Ali's ass Frazier. Marciano was faster than critics say, he was able to handle the speed of: Walcott, Charles, and Archie Moore. He was also extremely effective with his unorthodox defense. Unlike many bob a weavers like Frazier, Marciano had no pattern he followed (sometimes his head was below his knees) and enabled him to land his bombs from all angles to KTF dudes out. He was a well organized, but seemingly random, chaotic wrecking machine. Check out the last few rounds against Archie Moore who, by the way was still a champion 7 years after he was beaten by the Rock.

    Except Chavez was HIGHLY skilled

Anyways, back to Marciano/Ali, Ali's chin probably wasn't held in as high regard as it is now. It's just a fantasy fight, so I don't have any problem with it even though I don't think for a second that Marciano would stop a prime Ali. Goody Petronelli told me Marciano would lose every round to Ali up until the point he knocked him out.

Marciano was also highly skilled, he just did not use traditional movement patterns, which often times are predictable. Watch the last rounds vs. Archie Moore a few times. The more I watch, the more I appreciate Rock' unique skills.

There is apparently another ending with ali winning by stopping the rock on cuts, according to a couple of ali biographies.

They showed different endings to different audiences
