That is true but young's antics which should never be used to judge a fight such as sticking his head outside the ropes ( without getting hit Ali was seldom a body puncher ) cost him in the eyes of some fans. Still he won it and Ali knew it saying he reminded me when I was young,
" Overall, Ali landed 199 of 709 punches while Norton landed 286 of 635 punches, per Bob Canobbio's CompuBox statistics. Norton both landed more punches and had far better accuracy (45% vs 28%). Norton also landed 192 power punches to Ali's 128 " No one round swung on a big punch landed. Clearly Norton out landed Ali. He laded 87 more punches and more power shots by 64 more power punches if my math on the punch stats is correct. He landed More per the majority of rounds too. Net-net a bad decision. Ali was a loved guy. You won't find ANY fights this bad unless its a shameful fix.
I didn't think it was close, I haven't watched it in awhile, but I gave 10 rounds Norton, 4- Ali, 1 round even. Out of the trilogy, I thought the second was their best fight which I had Ali winning because he pulled out the 12th and final round.
