ive posted the 15th round of the fight between Ali and Shavers in 1977.

I personally think this fight is one which ali doesnt get enough credit for. He fought shavers, when shavers was a beast in the heavyweight division, and widely feared.....whilst ali was probably developing the early symptoms of parkinson's disease....

in this particular clip, you can see ali absorbing murderous punches from shavers, but coming back almost taking shavers right out, by simply risking standing toe to toe with one of the most chilling punchers of all time.

ali had the heart of a lion!

I feel a touch of regret whenever i see this fight. I know Ali says he wouldn't have changed a thing... but it's hard to see your idol taking those sorts of punches when he has already done so much for the sport.

i know what ur saying man, those were some murderous shots...

but the last 40 seconds for me exemplify why ali is the greatest fighter of all time.....shavers was on his way out had it not been for that bell

By this time. Ali was already done. He might of had 1 more Championship fight in him after that. Probably Spinks in a rematch. But he fought way too long due to IRS problems, numerous marriages and children, not to mention Don King. Nobody could survive what he went through as a fighter for as long as he did and expect to come out of this 100% normal. Ali won the hearts and minds of America in the late 70's and early 80"s. But, the guy everbody hated in the 60's was the best fighter to ever lace em up. No disrespect to Ray Robinson! Also, if you really want to see Ali suck it up in his prime and come back from some nasty shots, check out Ali vs Doug Jones & Ali vs Chuvalo or Ali vs Bonavena. Nice post of Ali vs Shavers . Thanks.

    no problem man.

some great mentions there for sure...i liked this one in particular because like you said ali really should have hanged em up by then....but he still had this awesome ability to face adversity, i mean the last minute of that 15th round, ali was unreal!

I always felt Shavers should've got the win here...Then again, I'm a Shavers fan :D

Either way, what an amazing 15th round...It's like out of a movie.
