I doubt i am seeming ignorant by airing a concern that we have had for some time. They all seem to be Lewis haters too.:think

It isn't hard for many hardcore boxing fans to see that Lewis is somewhat of a fraud. Just because many people people agree that he is, doesn't mean that somebody is out there posting under alts to discredit him.

but lol that you think there is some conspiracy against Lewis, instead of just realizing a lot of people don't think he's as great as you do.

I think highly of Mike Tyson and look at the way he is slandered on this board, but you don't see me accusing people of alts and calling them out. Their opinion is their opinion and it doesn't bother me because the greatness of Mike Tyson is known around the world and by fans who know the sport through and through, whereas Lewis has a huge black cloud over his career so his die hard fans feel the need to defend him to the death.

If Lewis has a dark could not much could be said for other Heavyweights. Very few can rival the depth of his resume.

Who does Lewis have on his resume that was a top fighter and at the top of their game and not so much just an old name?

He reminds me of the new fraud of this era, Manny Pacquiao, who has made a career of fighting guys who used to be names that were relevant, yet they are washed up and shells of their former selves, and some were never that good to begin with (Margarito).

Lennox Lewis made a career of laying low and playing the waiting game. While Bowe and Holyfield and other top contenders were all fighting each other, Lewis was hiding in the bushes waiting for them to slip. While he dodged top contention he still managed to slip and get cold clocked by journeyman fighters who nobody would ever know their names if it weren't for Lennox Lewis. He made McCall and Rahman men with a legacy.

People try to pretend that Holyfield wasn't shot or still near prime just because he could appear to compete, but he was a shell of his former self. Mike Tyson was shot to bits, David Tua looked like an out of shape wrestler who was in no condition to fight yet those are guys who are brought up as the "depth" in his resume. "He beat every fighter he ever faced" because he fought faded past greats and a whole slew of flunks. And the sad part is that he never looked impressive doing it. Lewis had two left feet and some of the worst footwork I had ever seen to the point where it bothered me to watch it, no handspeed, ma sloppy jab, and every fight he took place in was a snoozer aside from the two fights where he was knocked out.

Lennox Lewis was a well managed boxer who, given his level of opposition, should have retired undefeated, yet he failed 2 simple tests miserably by knockout.

Aside from having some of the most drab boxing skills I have witnessed, he was everything but a class act and a gentleman outside of the ring. He never gave credit to an opponent, and always had a terrible attitude toward other fighters like a snobby brat. There is a reason why he never reached the level of guys like Dempsey, Louis, Marciano, Frazier, Ali, Tyson, and other bona fide greats, and that is because he is simply not up to par with those guys, and not for any other reason.

Lewis has a resume built on beating top contenders, beating 8 men who were regarded by a top 3 man in the decision.

It seems to me that you are one of the only people who would say he isnt on the same level as "bona fide" greats.

I have Ali #1 at HW and I think at his very best he has a good chance of beating any other HW at their very best.

I think he'd have the toughest time with...

Frazier, Norton, and Holmes, naturally, but I would add Holyfield and Lewis to the list as well.

I did not see the results of the poll, as I said earlier I do not need the results of an internet forum where guys with David Haye in their avatar will weigh in with their opinion of Jack Johnson. It was meaningless to me when I told him it was meaningless 2 days ago, and it is still meaningless to me today.

Especially on a mostly British forum with many young fans, Jack Johnson is not going to get a fair shake.

I didn't even bother going into the thread to vote.

Are you trying to say if some one is a fan of a modern fighter , such as David Haye that they are not credible when talking about Jack Johnson. That is a little bit ignorant of you.

I would say that it is plausible that there is a good chance that a person who has David Haye in their avatar is a bit nationalistic. Perhaps a British/Euro fan.

And speaking of ignorant - how ignorant could a man be to believe that putting a poll up on an internet forum to discuss the likes of a past great that most people on the internet know nothing about, and compare him to a fraud like Lennox Lewis and ask the users "who is greater" and expect it to hold a single shred of weight is ignorant to me.

So would it be fair to say that some one with a black and white picture as their avatar may look at the fighters of yesteryear with rose tinted glasses?

It is the exact same logic.

Don't worry, i'm not nationalistic at all, i'm just rooting for Haye against Wlad, just like you are probably rooting for Wlad in contrast. Apart from Lewis, the rest of my top 10 favourites are all American...
