I favor Ali, & notr much to add...Except that Tyson was puzzlingly inactive most often, an anti-Frazier, accepting clinches. His bieggest tactical flaw is fighting in but doing little there. We cannot expect him to be able to fight backwards like Ali any more than Ali have his power, but this is a big deal.

Fascinating that like Louis they both lost the same amounts of their primes. Though Tyson had already deteriorated mentally,
ABD while they are so different in styles, they also both did not infight much, mainly both were so fast.

 

Ali would win by psychology. He would exploit the mental frailties within Tyson and take advantage of them. Ali just loved picking apart the ogres like Liston and Foreman and Tyson was very likely weaker mentally than both Liston and Foreman.

The psychological aspect of sport is often undervalued and under-appreciated, and having read this thread, I feel that is the case here...

 

Yet when Lennox Lewis said the same about Tinkerbell Tyson its complete bull**** to you nuthuggers....

Didn't holmes in a TV Interview before the fight mention that the break did him a world of a good and gave him time to rest his body. It's not like he was totally away from boxing, he had taken part in exhibition fights as well.

Tyson was in jail for almost three and a half years where he hadnt touched a boxing glove or had access to a ring, boxing facilities and a total abscence of 5 years from boxing.

Love it when people pick and choose different excuses for different fighters but end up getting exposed for double standards.

Ali ALWAYS pulled the the back of the other guys neck with his left hand whilst his right hand pushed against it, thus forcing the guy off balance and consequently nullifying any power he might have had on his punches on the inside.

And if you don't realise he could easily do that to the stumpy little freak Tyson you seriously DKSAB. Furthermore Tyson was never an inside fighter, he was at his most dangerous from mid range. Just how Ali loved it, because he was fast and elusive enough to dictate what was mid range.

Ali was down 3 times in his career not twice. Try to get your facts right.

 

Funny coming from a guy who habitually gets his facts about Tyson all wrong.

All of those predictions were correct because Ali carried those guys until he decided to close the show in the round he called. Plus those were not the only predictions he made and carried out.

Alis holding really helped him against Frazier. Oh wait it only worked in the second fight because be was able to hold non stop.

Tyson wasn't a "stub". He was faster, more accurate, and had more power than ANY fighter ali has ever had trouble with.

The bottom line: if you think Ali is holding Tyson all day ydksab. Tyson is a more technically sound fighter in his prime and is made to beat ali was open to the left hook and Tyson was made to own it.

Tyson a mid range fighter. Good laugh. Who said he wasn't? Lol he'd beat ali on the mid range TOO.
