You can always mention Wlad's losses, which were obviously his worst nights, and point out Ali's best wins. How about the version of Wlad that dominated Chagaev against the Ali who lost to Norton or the one who struggled against little 188 pound Doug Jones or the lucky night against Cooper, when a left hook with half of Wlad's power floored him so badly that Dundee used illegal smelling salts to revive him?

Ali was capable of exceptional performances yes, but his career didn't consist only of those. If Wlad would win a title the way Ali won, against an opponent who quit on his stool wihtout being visibly hurt and that opponent then takes a dive in the rematch boxing fans just lament what a poor era this is...current fighters can never win against great ones from the past, so much nostalgia in boxing.

Lee, you are one of the very few people in this forum who actually realise how overrated Ali is. He had no answer for stalking, hook-throwing brawlers who didn't give him punching room. Joe Frazier weighed 205 and completely shut down Ali. When Ali beat him, Frazier was a fat bum (go to boxrec and see how Frazier's weight kept going up after the first Ali fight).

He knew very well that brawlers age quickly (just look at Dempsey, Marciano, Tyson who were all close to shot by the age of 31). So Ali finally fought Earnie Shavers when it was obvious that the guy was fading (32 years old) and getting fat (he weighed 9 pounds more than he did just four fights earlier).

That said, I think Ali would outpoint Wlad because the fight would be a stylistic mismatch in Ali's favor. The man you should look at to beat Ali is a prime Mike Tyson, Rocky Marciano or Jack Dempsey, who had better footwork and more stamina/power than Joe Frazier.

I think the problem is that assertion that Ali gets knocked out in the 4th. I think Ali is overrates too, but I don't think anyone is stopping him in 4 rounds.

You can make a sensible augment for Wlad over Ali, but then to cap it with an outlandish result makes you know that this was just some sort of jest or flame bait.

Ali would find Wlad's glass chin and expose it for all to see. Wlad is currently the one eyed king in the land of the blind.

I would say that Ali would slip Wlad's jab and punches and Ali would throw his own combinations.

    Ali UD.

The day the majority of people say Wlad's the greatest of all-time, is the day I put the Smith and Wesson in my mouth and end it all. Wlad's not even the best fighter of the decade, his brother is. Wlad's weak ass chin would get exposed more times than Paris Hilton's *****, if he fought his prime during the 90's. I really cant believe anyone would compare him to greats like Ali and Tyson. I hope Fighting Weights around, he has alot of work to do sorting out all these ******ed qoutes.

    WRONG!!!!

There's a way to argue that Wlad beats Ali without being considered an idiot. People will say you're wrong but you know tthey're going to say that when you start the thread!!

However, when you say Ali was lucky to have a weak era in boxing...then you're just a fool, there's no 2 ways about it!!!

I disagree with Ali being overrated.

Ali fought anyone and everyone who deserved it all the way from archie moore and patterson to larry holmes and those inbetween. That is 3 generations of fighters, 3 eras. He fought all over the world and several times a year. He has some losses as most people would have losses at that frequency and that number of challengers but the point is that he came out on top most of the time.

Dont forget the guy had 3 years of his prime stolen from him. And he was in his prime this wasnt like Tyson where he already lost before going to jail.

Who else is even close to Ali's accomplishments? Joe Lewis who even admitted to his bum of the month club and easy fights within his 20+ defenses.

You can pick apart and nitpick anyone's resume but Ali is undeniably top 1 or 2 heavy ever based not on his mouth but on his record in the ring.

im sure everyone here agrees with u that ali having to fight the likes of liston frazier and foreman was easy compared to this action packed era with the incredible valuev
