Ali was most fighting sluggers

Foreman had a master jab but didn`t use it when he gassed v Ali.

 

He made almost every fighter look like a slugger.

There isn't usually many boxer, moving back foot fighters at heavyweight. Anyone who could box and move would have been better slugging out as very few could outbox ali

 

Ernie Terrell was 6-6 with an excellent jab. He couldn't land his jab on Ali if he had a machine gun.
Jimmy Ellis had a quick snappy jab, fast hands and a sharp right cross. Ali toyed with him.

Buster Mathis was 6-4 with quick hands. Despite his size he was more of a boxer than a puncher.

Joe Bugner was 6-4 225lbs and he was a pure boxer. Nice left jab. Not a puncher but he had skills. Ali beat him twice.

 

Foreman had a great jab, but cannot be called a good jabber because he didn't use it enough.

 

He didn`t make Norton look like a slugger, Norton out-jabbed him and battered him on the ropes.

 

Terrell and Bugner were too defensive v Ali, Tyrell did almost nothing but plod forward with a high guard, that fight was a stinker.

 

Well there's a reason they were defensive, they were getting stung.

 

No, they just didn`t know how to punch without being countered, Tyrell had no head movement.

 

Did I say he made Norton look like a slugger?

 

Because that's all they could do against Ali. Ali danced circles around Bugner in stifling heat of Maylaisa.

 

Or in reality Ali was too quick for them.
