Ali lost. Plain and simple. Mayweather never did. Maybe once people claim, regardless he won ALMOST every fight and never declined. He walked out on top of the game and his health remains impeccably intact. Be beat the best and never got K.O'd and dominated across so many different era's. He got knocked down once only because his hand touched the ground. Barely got dropped. He beat several guys and their career was never the same like Ricky Hatton, a rejuvenated Shane Mosely among others. Canelo won one round against Floyd. ODLA, Pac, JMM, They all destroyed or came up short. No one worked as hard as Money May and he's the best athlete that ever lived imo. Yes, Boxing requires athleticism. He's an athlete, not a 100m sprinter or marathon runner. So get that through your noggin. TBE - The Best Ever. Fact.
Stuff like this is obviously dependent on criteria. Imo being undefeated doesn't add much and losing while past prime doesn't take away much. So this whole argument is null and void to me. To me, Floyd is like top 20-15 all time p4p range. Although I'm probably taking this thread too seriously when it's most likely a troll thread. So uh... John Carmel Heenan is the best ever. Never losing and becoming a hall of famer is cool and all but have you ever tried never winning and becoming a hall of famer? Now that's goat material fact.
Floyd did lose he just was too much of a fraud and a chicken to ever fight outside his home country in his PED enhanced prime or fight prime greats without cripling them at the negotiating table like a female dog. He lost to JLC, crude caveman Maidana beat his ass and would've knocked him out had Floyd, again, not been too much of a chicken to allow him to wear a perfectly legal pair of puncher's gloves. Worst of all, Floyd went life and death and very nearly lost to a terribly inactive semi-retired well past prime Oscar who had one foot in the retirement home, the other in an opium den, and who had only fought once in going on three years and should've been 1-3 in his last 4 fights and had only seen six incomplete rounds in the last 32 months. Oscar should've been 2-5 in his last 7 fights. That's the version of him Floyd fought but people actually think Floyd would ever have stood a chance against prime active Oscar? That's some next level Olympic level mental gymnastics Prime Oscar whose balls were 1000 x the size of Floyd's little peanut bollocks would've 100% beaten his ass with ease, and likely dropped him and probably knocked him out. Let's not forget that Floyd was badly hurt a bunch of times in his PED enhanced prime by Chop Chop and a PED free Shane, and he was made to pull a no mas in the gym by Spadaforda who not only completely outboxed him but completely outslicked him and we all know Floyd struggled against slickness. 0-0-0 rank novice Sugar Money Mac outslicked him in the first 4 rounds while he still had air in his lungs for goodness sake Not to mention his shameless cowardly ducking of a prime Manny who he smeared as being a PED cheat despite the fact it was him who was jacked silly on PEDs, concocted that whole ''clean up the sport'' facade in order to duck Manny, had to pay Manny a hefty out of court sum and issue a groveling apology to him for his accusations after Manny's legal team requested Floyd produce his medical records in court which he refused to do because he knew he would incriminate himself and expose himself as the PED cheat we all know he was. Floyd wouldn't even contemplate going anywhere near Manny until he saw him sucking the canvas for half an hour like an asthmatic sucker fish after walking onto a JMM right hand bomb. None of Manny's 50 plus other opponents refused to fight him unless he underwent FLOSADA testing. Only Floyd. That tells you everything you need to know about the kind of fighter and 'man' Floyd is.
Floyd is the number one spoiled brat boxer in history. He ruined boxing because of him the best is not fighting the best anymore. Choosing opponents, lots of demends, fighting only in Vegas, accusing his possible opponents of using peds if he thinks he can't beat, needing testing before the fight, waiting time for the fighters until they past on their prime, manipulating rules in professional baxing because of his demands, claiming his self as the best ever because he want, even the people didn't recognized him, money always in favor for him even he is a boring fighter, a truely GOAT of the clown era..
I'm a Floyd fan, but you put it very accurately clear that Manny is da pac-man , a man of the people's, which I can respect. Just like Ali was in his prime. No hate just agreeing that p4p number one and having the people's hearts; is two different things, one is a title, the other is an honor.
To be the best boxer ever - it takes more than having a perfect record or be good just at the ring. You need to be a role model outside of it as well. How many kids on a global level have admired Mayweather and how many did admire Ali? The answer is quite simple and it is definitely not in favor of Floyd.
I remember that right hand from Maidana in the second fight had Floyd doing the stanky leg. Talk about saved by the bell.
Yes. JMM said those perfectly legal pair of gloves Floyd was too much a female dog to allow Maidana to wear make a big difference "These gloves are very light, as if they don't have much protection. I hit the and I can feel my knuckles [hit the bag]. There is less protection for the knuckles," said Marquez. "The difference I see in terms of cushioning is very similar [to Cleto Reyes]." "It's [creates] an impact that does not have much cushion. You feel the blow, you throw a hook and feel the knuckles, feel the power of the blow, so Mayweather does not want Maidana use these gloves. Maidana already hits hard and with these gloves his punches will be even stronger. Mayweather could get hit and go right to the mat. A well connected punch can hurt Mayweather." Floyd ruined boxing, his toxic trash fans ruined message boards, and he's a repulsive person whose influence on the sport has been nothing short of horrendous. We doff our hats at the true legends of the sport who embody everything great and noble about our sport and when they retire they are sorely missed and the sport worse off without them, whereas, conversely, it's the complete opposite when it comes to Floyd. It's insulting to mention his name in the same breath as Ali's and the true have gloves, will travel, fearless warriors and legends of the past.
I don't agree at all. An undefeated record does not equal 'the best.' It's much more nuanced than that. You have to look beyond the numbers. While Floyd is undoubtedly great, Ali (in this specific example) consistently fought a murderers row of opposition - ATGs, top contenders, bad style match ups. He took on all comers and adapted his style to dominate across two separate eras. AND he achieved all he did while missing his prime years in the ring. Ali also transcended the sport and revolutionised the way heavyweights fought. I'm not actually saying Ali IS the greatest. But he's definitely greater than Floyd, IMO.
