Ali is one of the three Hws ever and one of the five best boxers ever.

Mayweather is only one of the best 10 boxers ever because Alis feats in the ring are extraordinary Mayweathers ones are only good for lack of great opponents. Stop.

Holyfield had Lewisx2, Foreman, Holmes, Tysonx2 Mercer, Douglas, Moorer, Dokes and Thomas. Thats number 1 imo.

Holyfield is a great and his resume was certainly stellar but he lost a lot of big fights (no shame in that). I personally rate Ali’s win over Foreman, wins over Frazier, Liston, and Norton (third one was certainly highly controversial but still) higher. Plus he beat a lot of other solid guys like Williams, Patterson, Lyle, and Shavers. I think his resume, followed by Lewis and Holyfield are the best ever at heavyweight.

    Spot on! Great analysis.

You've forgot to mention that Zab Judah knocked Floyd Mayweather down with a single punch. Surely, Floyd wasn't hurt as badly as against Corley or old Mosley, but it was clear KD.

Also, if official record means so much, then Calzaghe and Ward should be ranked right after Floyd, as well as Ricardo Lopez. In fact, Lopez retired undefeated with more fights.

Whoaaaa look out. Maybe Sugar Shane Mosely was the best boxer ever after his win against Margerito. A signature victory. Let's judge him at his best. That win over De La Hoya too. Since no one was better than Ali in his prime. Let's give Mosely the same deal then. Yeah it's a joke but see the point.

Mayweather went undefeated across all those era's from 1996 to 2017 - That's 21 years. How many losses did he have? Exactly. How many times did he taste the canvas? Exactly. How many times did Ali lose? How many times did he get dropped? If Ali can't manage his career and go out of his prime, who's fault's that? A career is a career from start to finish Mayweather kept himself in impeccably great shape and never tasted defeat. He retired and came back and was still boxing at a high level. Let's not forget him getting ripped off in the Olympics. Ali is not the greatest because he calls himself the greatest and a lot of people go along with it and also remember one with rose coloured glasses.

All you can do is beat whoever is front of you in your era and in Mayweather's era all you have to do is look at his resume. No one can deny the fighters that he beat. There were many, many great names. He had a better career. A career is that. What you do from start to finish.

You can say Ali was the greatest. But he wasn't the best. Mayweather was.....

    Thanks

Yes, he struggled against Judah's slickness who dropped him and Emanuel Augustus' slickness too

Imagine what a prime juiced to high heaven Shane would've done to him if that PED free version he fought whose gas tank mysteriously ran dry after 3 or 4 rounds when he wasn't on his PEDs damn near knocked him out on his feet?

    Yes exactly.

Put them both in a ring and Ali knocks him out in the first round. This PFP rubbish is for people with small man syndrome.

Mayweather has a great case for greatest boxer of all time espescially if we are talking pound for pound.

50-0 6 division champ. Even if you want to say he lost to Castillo he avenged his loss and completley dominated Pacquio and Canelo. Great career.

Boxing fans are sadly still stuck in the past and not ready to admit it, but yeah, Floyd is clearly better ability-wise.
