One fighter can stack up stylistically to another without matching him statistically.

A fighter training for Williams might spar Mcmurray and Powell. That’s how close they are.

If Williams is beating Patterson like Liston did how did Williams compare with common Liston opponents?

Frankie Daniels lasted the distance with Williams but was laid out as cold as a kipper by Sonny inside one round just months apart. Wayne Bethea? Full distance with Williams but did not last a one round shellacking against Sonny. Dave Bailey? He lasted five times as long against Williams. Machen? Liston beat him. Williams drew.

Is there any wonder Liston flattened Williams? There isn’t one result comparable is there?

    No, Chok.

    Just no.

Do you know what zero means ?

This was a fight between the # 6 HW and the #3 HW.

It had importance, significance and noteworthiness.

    ps

If you continue with these embarrassing semantic contortions and walk-backs, you're going to twist yourself into a pretzel.

It had importance, significance and noteworthiness for all of five minuets then it’s importance Became unimportant, it’s significance became insignificant and was immediately forgotten. The most noteworthy thing about this match is that nobody remembers it. The result left no historical importance at all. The fight did not produce a champion or a story worth remembering. It’s just a statistic, a result duplicated by Jack Bodel. If it was so important why dosnt anybody remember Billy the Barber?

oh yeah, well you know what you can do with that pretzel..

    Oh my...

I'm sensing a bit of saltiness here, not to mention a bit of strident stubbornness to admit to error.

And far be it from me to be responsible for any serious mental anguish to any poster, I will leave it there.

With one final observation... Important = Significant = Noteworthy.

There is a shelf life for all three. Regarding Willliams vs Daniels, it went out of date the night it happened.

    Enjoy that pretzel.

You've certainly shown your blatant bias for all to see yet again.
