Louis was a liar and so was Marciano. Louis got outboxed by Billy Conn for 13 rounds. Prime Ali would never have slowed down and never had been knocked down like that. Marciano is another guy who got outboxed by a great mover and almost lost but won in the 13th. Again, Ali would not have gone down like that.

Larry's jab wasn't ****, Ali was faster and Larry didn't have a leg to stand on. The guys who gave Ali difficulty were the bob and weave frazier types and the crab fighters. Holmes had none of that, the fact he couldn't even KO an old parkinsons Ali tells me he could never beat Ali.

This man knows boxing. Frazier and Tyson are 2 very different cans. Tyson tries to finish guys early had medicore conditioning at best, frequently clinched on the inside, took lots of breaks, ran out of breath lacked heart. Tyson had a grossly predictible style that even douglas could figure out, I don't think he'd beat Ali on his best day. Frazier on the otherhand, let you punch yourself out and then beat you to death when you were tired. He did not have the same skill set as Tyson. He had way more heart and never tired in any fight. Frazier only troubled Ali because he had such high work rate tyson could not match it over 15 rounds like frazier could, frazier was way better conditioned. Hell Frazier never even really been knocked out, just knocked down alot agaisnt foreman.

Show me a fat big gut belly boxer from the 1920s who looks like the land whales of the 00s like samuel peters? These guys are terribly conditioned. Any bum from the 1920 would have whooped these fatties because after 5 rounds they want to wrestle and not box because they are too fat to throw.

Jack Johnson would have whooped every boxer around.

Agreed with all that except the johnson part

Johnson would have whooped them all, he'd block every punch, its jsut that simple. He had the biggest bombs around. He is basically has the power in both hands of Joe Louis, can block your every punch and dance like Ali but with better endurance, best of all he is shorter than them all so there is less area to hit. Perhaps his only disadvantage is his small reach but it doesn't matter he made quick work of denver ed described as having the best footwork in the game at 6'7 in 2 rounds. Johnson was untouchable. Where Ali and Louis where in wheel chairs in their 60s Johnson was still in the ring until right before his death, he did not need no cain, he fought alot of fights but was hardly touched, hardly punched. When a guy is used to fight 45 rounds or 20 rounds you are not going to catch him period. Your power means nothing. The only way is to try to swarm him. And Ali couldn't beat Johnson because Johnson would let Ali be the aggressor and would try to hit Ali on the way in. Its not like he'd destroy Ali, but it'd be like putting in Rigondeaux vs Lara or something. Johnson is just slightly better.

    OMG!
    Tommo,
You really don´t know much about boxing. You´re comments are so stupid I won´t even bother to read this thread again. Grow up! Learn something before you speak. Stupidity is fun to read once, twice it´s boring. This is even worse.

    Discredits any argument.

    Joe Louis.

Intangibles such as will, savvy and determination count for much in boxing. Much is said about Ali's always finding a way to win, but Joe Louis--the sport's most successful defending champion--as well always found a way to win.

Louis could very well bang and claw his way to a tough, unanimous decision win, not too different from FOTC.

Ah...............But even Ali's critics claimed that it was the smaller faster guys who gave Muhammad most trouble.

Wlad has faced the greatest opposition in HW history? Jesus is this "Vladimir 23" Haha. Wlad and Lewis are two of my favorite boxers, and
both are beasts head to head, however they cant fight against the odds
like ALI could. Watch the ALi Foreman fight, no one could have taken that beating. Foreman said in an interview that he could have gotten up but
he was beaten mentally. Lewis has a lot of great wins, Wlad has some good even great wins, however a win over a peak Foreman is greater than
all of their opponents. Dont even mention Lewis vs Tyson. Please educate yourself on Joe Louis. There is a general forum for this nonsence that you post.

Joe Louis was the most highly skilled hwt ever to live. He indeed could do it all. There is a very good video on YouTube...the "subtle skills of Joe louis". It would be a nice introductory course to boxing for Tommo. Think of it as boxing 101 for the very beginner.

Well anyway thoughts on Bowe vs Ali? Ali is gonna take some serious punishment, but he can outjab Big Daddy. Can Ali effectively clinch or would he eat hooks?
Bowe could get a SD hard to see someone KOing Ali. Haye beating Louis might be the funniest **** Ive heard in a while. I think Wlad would give Ali a tough fight, but he would tire and get caught with lead rights. Ali would stop him late. There's an interesting article on Cox's corner about Louis beating Ali. The complete technician vs the athletic phenom. Ali was troubled by elite technicians and Louis and company might devise the perfect gameplan. The jab would be key. Peak Liston?

Joe Louis is faster (handspeed), stronger, more powerful, and more skilled.
Haye is a borderline bum with average power despite musclemass. You think that bs he tried against Wlad would work against Louis? Louis KO within 3. I think the Baer brothers would KO Haye. Louis could deal with any type of fighter:Brute slugger, giants, slicksters, technicians, crouching rushers, bums. Haye would be inducted into the bum of the month club.
Maybe calling Haye a bum is unfair, I mean he is talented and elusive but
he Louis, Ali, Foreman, Liston, Bowe, Tyson ad nausea would make Haye's little piggy go crying all the way home.:tong

Ali has no chance but if remember correctly Brewster and sanders ko'ed wlad. Wlad at his best is going to be tough for any heavy because if his size but saying Ali has no shot is dumb. Wlad has never fought anyone remotely close to Ali's skill level.
