    ...with a handful of rice!"
    One Tommy Farr said that. Its 71 years tomorrow since he fought Joe Louis. By 'eck it seems like only yesterday.
    A time to remember a tougher breed of heavyweight and one British boxing's finest....despite a procession of defeats at elite level he will always be remembered for the thundering challenge to Louis.

    I'd like to think Ali would've prefered to conserve his rice.

    that is so true not many people see how complete tyson was in his prime, he used in his jab quite a few times before going inside and he was believe or not a relatively safety first fighter, you never would see him go in wide open with wide hooks like he did against holyfield

    I pick Louis in this one. But who knows, really? One thing is for sure - Ali would have hit Louis plenty.

    A prime Ali beats everybody.
    Joe Louis was a great fighter.
    But Ali picks him apart.

    Considering Joe Louis's problem with Billy Conn, and Ali's jaw, I'd pick Ali by decision.

    Yeah because you had to be lightning fast to land on Joe Louis, look at the speed of Schmeling it was insane, and of course James Braddock only dropped Louis because he was like a heavyweight Sugar Ray Robinson.

    And Billy Conn never managed to outbox him for most of the fight even though he was much bigger and faster than Ali and with a better jab and a stronger chin too.

    Louis needed to be timed rather than out-sped. This is why Schmeling and, in one round, Braddock exelled against him, before his peak.

    Both were extremely accurate hard punchers and both were expert timers of their man. Not saying speed is not a factor in a Louis fight, it is, but it's not the crucial, and certainly not the determining factr.

    This is probably what Farr is getting at, or something like it.

    Of course he does;
    Its a ludicrous claim by Farr,and he shouldnt get away with such nonsense because he's a venerable,respected, old man
