"Ali-Young" of '76 was iffy at best in action, yet Ali did edge Young.

there is no doubt in my mind that a prime motivated Ali would have ****ed Young up, but that is not the Ali that showed up in the ring

Ali has an awful lot of apologists who just won't accept that he lost to lesser fighters or struggled with them once he started declining

A few things, I think young took a knee when Ali was leaning on him hard not from being punched, an exelent move for young, as the red allowed Ali to do anything he wanted, except just going home in the middle of the bout from frustration and embarrassment. Also, you really gotta TAKE the title from the champ is the dumbest line in boxing. Winning on points IS taking it from the champ. Their are no speicial rules for different scoring for a championship fight, either by rds, 5 pt, or 10pt must scoring system. Oh, Ali in shape woulda kicked his ass, another load of ****, remember old Jimmy against young mike dokes, mike was missing and getting countered nicely by Jimmy, I thought Jimmy shoulda got the win, close however. Ali was a LOAD, everyone loved him cause he was a loudmouth, nevermind that he was a draftdodger, racist, demeaned his opponents, nice funny little act he had though, and I do really appreciate his talents too, just not sucked into hanging from his balls as so many are. He's a freKimg LOAD, take it from Ernie, Kenny, Jimmy, Leon, Alfredo of all poeple.

I don't think I scored a fight for him after the thriller. Should have retired then.

Surely you had him up against Holmes before that premature stoppage?

When I have one points difference (the first time I had it a draw) over 15 rds with many close rounds I could never call it a robbery. I didn't remember which scores the judges had, just that Ali won. 72-65 is a horrible scorecard, but that doesn't make it a robbery anymore than the 118-110 scorecard in Hagler-Leonard makes that fight a robbery. I'm just looking at win or lose when I call fights robberies.

That Ali retained his title in a very close fight where the challenger behaved in a way that most consider unfit for a champion is no surprise whatsoever to me. Yes, judges shouldn't perhaps put such emphasis on if a fighter behaves like a champion or not, but they are only humans after all and are bound to be swayed by such things. As all fighters know coming into the ring.

I mean, if Leonard gets flak for "shoeshining" Hagler and dazzling the judges, what does that mean for Young? Sticking your head out between the ropes is unheard of for me in championship fight, and in a close fight you really make it easy for the judges to give the other guy the edge by doing things like that.

He employed that tactic in five rounds all in all, I think. In one round he got a standing count for doing it, so that's a 10-8 round for Ali.

Well, I might be wrong, but I think he actually took a knee, without counting as a knockdown. But even if it did counted as a 10-8 round for Ali, I still don't think he did enough to win the fight. Robbery or not, he shouldn't have won in the first place.

I liked Ali's littl psych game he played on Young during the ref's instructions were Ali was already covering up and then flashing some quick combo's at Young...... Ali was okay at 230 pounds for gym sparring, but not totally fit to fight 15 hard rds, but the passive Young made it easy for Ali to catch his breath if and when he needed to....

    Ali won

Yea, judges are human, and they're also professional boxing judges. Casual boxing fans may be swayed by some bull**** in the ring, but most guys on here and pro judges should not be. Guys on here might favor ther'ye guy a little, that's a tough one, you score what you like, but pro judges have a certain criteria they score on, they should stick to it, it's NOT natural or acceptable for them to be swayed. It's an easy gig for them, if they can't be honest, they shouldn't be there. But us guys, it's the real rules, and of course while I'll appreciate a slicksters artistry in the ring, someone else might favor them loudmouthed exrvert for farting or pushing a guy down from the neck. Or, just ther'ye guys style. No way Ali beat shavers, I watched that very recently, Ali got his ass kicked bigtime, I thought there was no doubt

Oh, yeah... I too gave Ali the fight over Norton at Yankee stadium... It was close, but Norton needed round 15 bad on my card and he lolly-gagged.... Ali wins by a **** hair in New York...

Ali had a tussle with Shavers in '77, but despite being rocked a few times by Shavers, Ali had the points....

Ali made Leon Spinks look like a fool in New Orleans of '78....
