I remember watching it on television, probably a delayed broadcast the day after.
One of the first fights I watched. Seemed a bit brutal to my young eyes.

His best moments were when he was leaving the ring after it was all over. The fact that he could leave the ring on his own power was a blessing.

As popular as he was, there must have been some people who were glad that Ali got a real beating that night?

    Joe Frazier maybe?

When you are looking for a fighter's best moments, they generally have nothing left to lose!

I'll give Ali credit for durability in that fight, but even that's suspect because I don't think Holmes was really going all out. If he had I think he could have TKO'd Ali at just about any time, probably not dropping him but getting the ref to step in.

I think everyone would agree with this, but Ali needed money and King offered him $8 mill. What would you do if you were in his shoes?

Pretty muted, the wheels had finally fallen off the wagon.

Do you think the fight would've been any different if it happened two years earlier? Holmes probably still would've won but Ali would've had his moments and would've won some rounds IMO. It wouldn't be nearly as one sided as it actually was. That's for sure.

I've never watched the entire fight. I've watched bits & pieces but have no interest in watching it. ESPN used to air it as a "classic" fight for some reason.

I think in the 7th round Ali moved a bit & throws some decent jabs. He doesn't do much but it's a good moment because you hear the crowd come to life.
