Underrated for sure. Liston II was a legit counter 'anchor punch' that scrambled Chuck's brains, IMO. Liston may have been looking for an out after it landed, but the punch and the intentions behind it and the legitimacy of it connecting - all 100% real, IMO. ...and yes, his defense was shown to be lacking when he couldn't dance circles around guys with extremely poor footwork.
Agreed ! It would have been only slightly more competitive than Muhammad's fights with the likes of Jurgen Blin and Richard Dunn.
Terrel in the Ali fight was very slow, and its hard to tell if either Liston fight was on the level. Any jabber with good hand speed ( Jones, Norton, Foster, Lyle, Young ) got to Ali with the punch.
Of course the fact Terrel was jabbing the fastest heavyweight ever had no bearing on your perception of him being 'very slow'? Listons jab was superb and even if, and its a big if the fights weren't above board, Im sure Liston wouldn't deliberately miss an abundance of jabs. Power punches maybe, but not jabs. You talk about analyzing tape. Well watch those two against Ali objectively
