I equate Ali's greatness to his second title reign when the boxing world found out that he could take a punch when not having the legs to dance away.

I can't give RJJr the same respect because when he got hit later on in his career, he got knocked out, evidenced by the Tarver, Johnson and Danny Green fights.

Both fighters practically never held their hands high in proper guard, especially Jones with that left jab hand very low.

How much better would Roy have been if he paid more attention to protecting his face and perhaps adopting the technique of parrying the body shots with his right?

As great as Jones was,he takes second place to Ali. Both had superb physical gifts, but it's Ali's toughness that provides the clear blue water here.

He got hit plenty of times. Don't just make **** up. He took some hard shots in the first Tarver fight, against Toney and others.

That Tarver KO destroyed his punch resistance. He has a sweet spot on the top and sides of his head.

Saying all that, Ali is still a much better fighter and a much greater fighter.

I tend to agree with this. I wouldnt call it toughness. Its more durability and Jones didnt have that when he slowed like Ali did. Jones was tough, he just got knocked unconscious.

Why so harsh Senya13? People like you who just choose to criticize and attack people without explanation aren't worth anyone's time here.
Grow up man, get out of grade 5 and don't be so rude. Can you constructively criticize or is it just for pure aggravation

I've given you praise and respect in your pasts posts. At least you could do the same or maybe you're just not capable or doing that.

Maybe you need to watch RJJr's fights more because many of his fights I've seen, his hands are at midriff to rely on his speed and reflexes. I guess you don't know that speed and reflexes diminish with age which is why I believe he got caught a lot more later on his career.

Ali did the same thing early in his career, not protecting himself with his hands up because he relied on his speed and reflexes.

Try again sir or keep your stuff to yourself.

Ali will go down as greater, Jones was flat out better and would beat Ali if both were the same size

Once a man's been ko'd once, he gets ko'd easier subsequent times, it's sort of defence mechanism. Not sure if it was the first or second Tarver fight that punched it out of Roy or if he didn't have the durability in the first place. But if you watch the first Tarver fight he took some bombs

His hands are low when it's safe, or when he's trying to pull them out and counter them; they go up instantly whenever his opponent is trying to close the distance. Jones is defending the right side of his body a lot of time by keeping his right hand vertically, his glove protecting his jaw from left hooks and his elbow touching his waist line. If you don't notice it, you should try paying more attention to what he does other than the flashy stuff.

Ali was never both quick and durable at the same time .
When he was quick he was not durable (like against Henry Cooper) .
When he was durable , he was not quick (like vs Shavers) .

When Ali started to lose his speed he worked on his durability and improved/adjusted his fouling techniques .
When Jones started to slow down , he remained quite a clean boxer (except from the backfist he gave Calzaghe ) and didn't feel like letting ppl punch him during sparing sessions just 4d sake of enhancing his durability .
D first thing does not make Ali better/greater , d second thing does not make Jones more shot .

Your on every Ali thread making the same shitty posts. But im not surpised, your a Klitscko fan. All you lot do is try to bring other true ATGS down and try to pump up your boys.

Maybe your forgot that Ali lost some of his best years while he was exiled, what he lost in speed, he made up in durability and toughness.

And unlike your boys Wladmir and Vitali, Ali never got sparked out or quit due to injuries.

Your the same guy who said Ali cheated in all but 2 fights.

I have to agree with this. I love Ali like everyone else but measuring the two of them side by side, Roy is a far greater fighter. Historically, Ali is the man and the #1 entertainer/personality ever regardless of sport
