In their primes IMO Jones was the better fighter.

    Ali is greater though.

It was never a good guard, though.

As for the thread subject, Jones was even more dominant against his opponents in his prime, but he never cleaned out one of the classical divisions, and we arguably never got to see Ali's peak years due to his exile. Roy was also less able to compete when declining physically.

    To put it this way:

Would Ali kept the 0 on his record for as long as Roy if he never was exiled and also never faced several of the best fighters in his division? I think so.

Would Roy come back and beat all of his opponents until age 38 if he got robbed of his peak years? No, he flat out wouldn't.

Roy Jones Jr. had the opportunity to do even greater things than Ali did.

He could have moved to heavyweight around 1996 - '97. A fight with Holyfield. Or Tyson. Moorer even.

Ali was better and had a much greater career, mostly because he was better.

Roy was a phenomenal fighter but he didn't have the fights to make him as great as Ali. Roy has to take some of the blame for missing out on some big fights.
Ali fought everyone who was worth a damn, Roy didn't.
Skill wise he was better but greater? No way!

No one is greater than The GOAT. Are they?

So, is this still a stupid, baseless, thread like you've suggested prior? Or are you still just looking for new ways to slice and dice me with insults?

I've paid attention to Jones' career. From what I saw his hands were always lower than they should even when he was faster and younger. Both gloves were by his waist relying on his reflexes. Maybe he was protecting himself from body shots as you suggest, but inadvertently forgot about his head which he got touched severely, later in his career.
Fighters I've worked with and trained. don't just leave their hands by the waist just to protect themselves from body shots. It's dangerous considering how open you leave your head.

You shouldn't be so quick to tell people what they should and shouldn't pay attention to when discussing fighters if you can't elaborate and discuss at first instant. Avoid the insults if you can. It just makes you come across as a person that's incapable of civlized discussion.

BTW, who made you the expert voice of this forum?

please don't compare Ali's greatness to Roy Jones. Ali fought every didn't duck anyone and traveled all over the world to fight. Jones carefully maneuvered through weightclasses handpicked his opponents refused to travel to fight refused to make big fights and had an abysmal Glass Jaw.

They are not on the same Universe. Jones was a disgrace.

You couldn't pay attention to two sentences, 65 words, and just ignored what I wrote. It can't be helped, I suppose.
