I just watched the Thriller in Manilla again and noticed that at the end of the 1st round, Ali threw a double left hook at Frazier. The second one caught Joe on the chin and buckled his knees. It was the closest I'd seen to him going down against Ali. Ali knockd out Bonavena with left hooks. Any other examples where Ali, a strict jab and right cross fighter, put someone away with a left hook or maybe hurt them with a body shot?)
Well this was a right hook, rather than a left, but the one he caught George Foreman with in the 8th round was a corker! I've watched this hook in slow motion, and Foreman's eyes rolled over white. Ali also caught Floyd Patterson with a good right, or left, but surprisingly, Patterson took it well.
Ali Definately Shook Frazier with two consecutive Left Hooks in the 9th Round of Fight 1 Frazier ( Frazier of Course seised back the initiative in the 11th bigtime)
If he could get away with it, Ali would dance around and throw a 1-2 all night. He had every punch in the book if he was pressed enough to bring them out.
