Out of all the men Muhammad Ali has fought in the ring, who was overall the best fighter? Another question is what was Ali's greatest victory? and finally how does Ali's resume stack up with other all time greats from all weight divisions (Ray Robinson, Marvin Halger, Floyd Mayweather, Ray Leonard are examples). I apologize if this has been posted many times in the past but it was on my mind all day and I want to know what you guys think :think
Shesh :S Liston was a crude slugger for crying out loud! Liston is, was and will always be a joke - the man hadn't even moved from 10 round bouts until 4 year prior to him meeting Ali :S :S :S :S
Foreman-Frazier-Liston are all ATG. Having those 3 in his resume is already impressive. other wins in his resume Floyd Patterson Ken Norton Ron Lyle Leon Spinks
That same joke KO'd Floyd Patterson twice for the HW title, the same Floyd Patterson who Ali himself said was the most skilled and quickest opponent he ever faced.
Foreman is his greatest win. Guys like Robinson, Greb, Sam Langford, Ezzard Charles, etc were able to build up their resumes through several different divisions, so it's a bit unfair to compare his resume to that of such fighters. Ali has the best resume of any single-division fighter in history though, unquestionably.
