I checked IMDB and can’t see where he ever played Johnny Ringo. He did play a character named Johnny Yuma in a TV series. Ringo was a real cowboy who was on the other side of the feud with Wyatt and the Earps (but not involved himself in the shootout at OK Corral — which actually didn’t take place at the corral, but that’s another story). His first screen portrayal (at least a character by that name) that I can find is in a spaghetti western called Ringo and His Golden Pistol, portrayed by Mark Damon in 1966 (no relation to Matt, I don’t think). Ringo was probably most memorably (and best) portrayed by Michael Biehn in Tombstone. And Evangelista would have whipped any of those boys. He was, while a rather pedestrian plodder, a good body puncher.
Now 3:10 to Yuma, that’s a good western whether you’re talking the Van Heflin/Glenn Ford 1957 original or the Christian Bale/Russell Crowe remake.
Re-read. We’re in agreement — I prefer the original. Glenn Ford and Van Heflin in the same western is gold. I still think the bar fight in Shane is the best movie fight I’ve ever seen.
I do and have the original The Magnificent Seven from 1960, the stars were legendary, Brad Dexter, Robert Vaughn, James Coburn Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson Joel McCrea, Eli Wallach and Yul Brenner. All star cast.
I remember a fight I can’t quite put my finger on it but Ali stopped it with a conversation to with the ref- The fighter was not hesitant to yield in the slightest and looked absolutely relived.
