Alistair Overeem Beats Peter Aerts at K-1 World GP In Seoul

I do not doubt that Overeem may be using some form of supplements, but he is older now and his body has matured. Also, fighting @ 205 he had to cut a massive amount of weight. If you recall he used to gas a lot, and I think it was due to the weight cutting. I think he is a natural HW and should've stayed at the size he debuted at HW when he crushed Kharitonov in their 1st meeting @ PRIDE 31. I like Alistair. It took me a long time to warm up to him. Steroids or not I give him credit for stepping up and finishing. He is on a mission. Don't sleep on his subs when it comes to MMA.

 

I agree that with age comes muscular maturity. Im not sure how much weight he had to cut but it wouldnt have been anymore than 20 or so lbs as Overeem was never an overtly muscular light heavy/middleweight in PRIDE.

Now dont get it twisted i like Overeem the boy can flat out fight but that dudes on gear. He's put on 40-50lbs of lean muscle in a very short space of time. In a sport that requires a lot of CV gaining muscle mass is very difficult as one is aerobic and one is anaerobic.

I think Ovareem is a talented guy, but how come he looks stacked every time he fights in K1.... do they even test for the juice?

Japanese orgs dont test for substance abuse. They simply dont care.

 

I was thinking the same thing. He is huge now.

 

They do test them, but they test the on stuff they now they will not take. Otherwise the whole fight game, especially K1 and MMA would be in trouble.

So they test them to keep up a clean image, but they test them in such a way they will not get caught.

 

Wow, Overeems wins are raising Liddells stock, I can't believe how easily Chuck KO'd him. But Something is fishy about Overeem, like other posters have said, he has to be on something, you just don't get that kind of muscular gain naturally. But then again, wouldn't have the U.S commissions cought it when he was in stirkeforce.

 

Manhoef did well against Remy. I agree with him, he took the first and remy took the 3rd. 2nd was close (maybe Manhoef nicked it) and the fight should have at least went to a extra round. Very good effort though.

 

What? :roll: Easily? Have you even seen that fight? And Overeem used to get hurt easily at 205. If he had to strip off alot of weight which may be true because of the large stretch marks he used to have at 205 at least 8 or so years ago, then that could have been the reason for his poor chin. Either way Chuck did NOT win easily and neither does it raise his stock. Chuck got wiped out when he came to PRIDE. He was fortunate that Overeem didnt clean his clock.

 

They would not, because they don't care. They secretly allow fighters to use steroids :deal as almost any other fighting organization.

 

It was still a very good win for Liddell.
Liddell took very huge blow in the begginning and kept fighting. When he landed that big right hand on his forearm, it was the end:rasta

 

Well, I think that is exaggerated.

Sem Schilt = 3 time K1 winner and Top Karataka/Kick-boxer/MMA fighter
Hari = Top Kick-boxer and very spectacular
Aerts = Legend and still alive and kicking! Ok he lost to Overeem but it was a very entertaining fight in wich he hold his own.
Bonjasky = 3 time K1 winner and Top kickboxer.
Overeem = Strike Force champion and a good striker in his own right.
Zimmerman = Talented puncher and seems to be still improving.
Manhoef = Another explosive entertaining puncher.
Feitosa = Karataka journey man. No way less then Filhio or Petras that used to fight in K1. I like Feitosa better.
Le Banner = Over the hill. Still a good journeyman and gatekeeper.
Karaev = No heavyweight. Still spectaculair.
Ghita = Lots of heart and talent.

Then there is more upcoming talent, journeyman, freaks of nature, and your usual K1 cannon fodder as always.

But is this years edition really more poor then other years? Sure there have been better years... There also have been worse years...

At least all fighters in the final 16 were real kickboxers now. And a lot of talent and potential for the future. Show some love please...
