Alistair Overeem Beats Peter Aerts at K-1 World GP In Seoul

Yeah I watched the whole thing here on tv since we always get the big events plus we had 2 of our boys in there.

Overeem had a superb performance against Aerts and tookm him out of the final for the first time in history.Peter actually fought good not to get KOed.But Overeem is clearly on the juice.

Like always I''ll be rooting for my fav LeBanner but age and more so injuries have caught up with him.Don't see him getting past Schilt in the first fight in the final(AGAIN).

 

I think the reason why there were not so many KOs was that most fights were pretty evenly matched.

 

Btw did anyone believe Manhoef deserved at least a extra round?I did.

So did Feitosa IMO if not to actually get the decision.

 

I felt the same too. It should have at least went to an extra round.

 

I think Zimmerman overall had the better over Feitosa.


I also think Bonjasky clearly won over Manhoef.

In the 1st round the fight never really got warmed up. Mainly because Manhoef slam dunked Bonjasky to the canvas BECAUSE MANHOEF IS A STREETFIGHTER BLA BLA BLA. Now I don't have any problem with some dirty tricks now and then, I even think it completes a fighter, but what Manhoef did was so repetitive it became anoying.

The 2nd round I had for Bonjasky. Manhoef did a lot of wild swinging that cought the eye but had little to no affect on Bonjasky. And his low kicks really looked like a todler kicking his dad. Bonjasky on the otherhand landed some pretty solid combinations of puches and kicks.

The 3rd round was clearly for Bonjasky. At that point Bonjasky clearly was getting the better over Manhoef. If the fight had been schelduled for 5 rounds I even think Bonjasky would have stopped Manhoef.

 

The first round was clearly for Manhoef,3rd clearly for Bonjasky.

2nd was a deal breaker.Should hav ebeen equal.

There was nothing clear about it to me.Extra round was needed.Bonjasky himself looked surprised when he got the decision.

 

I thought Bonjasky looked surprised, but more because he did not get screwed. I also saw a "rightfully so" look on his face.

I thought he clearly won although a lot of people did think it was close.

Then again...

1. Bonjasky is last years champ
2. Because of last years controversy Bonjasky needs to be in the Final 8
3. Manhoef has lost a lot of his fights lately

Those are 3 good reasons why Bonjasky needs to be in the Final 8 over Manhoef anyway.

 

Personally I think Manhoef got jobbed a bit.

But then again your 3 points are VERY GOOD.Politics rule this sport just like any other.The Koreans and Japanese do it just like they want it.

 

Personally I think 1 extra time round, let alone 2, is stupid for a tournament.

All it does is allow judges to develop a mindset that they don't have to make a decision, it creates more drama than it is supposed to solve.

Rounds that are scored even because the judges can't find one single tiny difference in 3 minutes are a bit of a joke.

Of course Overeem is using relatively large amounts of PED. For F's sake he transformed from Erkel into Ronnie Coleman in like nine months.

They are now banning people on shitdog who suggest that Overeem has been using PED.

the guys definately vulnerable noguiera and shogun both beat him twice,lidell and arona both knocked him out.

 

Probably because there afraid of litigation. Then again the mods over there are garbage as is most of their forums.

 

It's rather auspicious that Overeem eliminated former mutli-time K1 champ Peter Aerts on his way to the finals. Let's see if he can pull it out now.
