It wouldn't be amazing. It would be the boxing equivalent of Randy Couture vs James Toney, a complete and utter wash-out mismatch that would be over before it started and an embarrassment to all concerned. A guy gets outboxed in an octagon by BJJ specialist Fabricio Werdum, then goes into the ring against guys with 50+ fights and 10+ years experience? Come on. Stop. Just, stop. :-(

Reem is a solid fighter in his own right but people do ATG match ups with the Klits for a reason. If it is for money then whatever but I don't see him winning.

You also have to consider that he might be pulling a Nick Diaz.

Nothing like toney vs Couture. Overeem is a striker who has trained boxing, good shape, big and has ko power. overeem's boxing is miles ahead of Toney's groundskills. Of course its still a mismatch,

How do you think Werdum would do in a pure striking matchup against Overeem? I hope you would agree Werdum gets annihilated! Looking to stop werdums takedowns is what lead to Overeem getting outstruck in that particular fight.

Vitali would embarrass Overeem, but a top MMA fighter vs a top Boxer has not happened in boxing history. I would love to see it happen for a change, just as I would love to see Diaz against a good boxer.

At some point a MMA fighter is going to have success in boxing (even if its minimal success) considering they all train boxing, and seem to want to compete in boxing. hopefully, Overeem will be the first of many MMA fighters, actually testing their boxing skills at a highlevel, just like he did with kickboxing. I would have loved to see Silva fight Jones, but his zuffa contract made it impossible.

Tell me, if Overeem vs Klitschko fight was happening tomorrow and you could watch it for free would you?

Most likely its just talk, but I for one would like to see a MMA fighter have the balls to do it. I doubt I'm alone.

overeem needsto choose either mma, k1 or boxing and become his best at one, this way allows him to have many excuses when he gets beat

He should want to fight Wlad instead.

Wlad's glass jaw makes him susceptible to any puncher.

I don't share your enthusiasm for this at all, because I feel as if many of my fellow boxing fans would use it to discredit MMA, which I would not enjoy as I also love MMA.

Overeem vs Klitschko would be as one-sided, easy, humiliating and boring as Couture vs Toney was. Easily.

Kickboxing isn't boxing. Striking with the hands in MMA is not boxing either. Boxing training for MMA is not boxing, as they train boxing modified specifically for MMA, which is very different.

Overeem would effectively be a rank novice, even if he was fighting a lower top 10 heavyweight like Cris Arreola, who was proven to be vastly inferior to Vitali.

Overeem, like most MMA fighters, have to do their physical training with an emphasis on core strength for grappling. This would not only be a useless asset against a boxer who can move round the ring like either Klit, but would become a massive hindrance in terms of stamina.

Next to a Klit, Overeem would look flat-footed, with no grasp of fundamentals and no defence, it would be car-crash TV.

If Overeem didn't get poleaxed within the first few minutes due to his inability to defend himself, he'd gas out and be ruthlessly and brutally picked apart.

In every conceivable way, this is a terrible, terrible idea, unless you are a hater of MMA and want to find reason to criticize or degrade the sport.

do you think, a major german tv network are going to put up several millions of dollars for this, come on guys.

A guy needs to at least prove he can fight a bit first
