    Seriously - What am I missing about this Guy. Someone please explain why this guy is no pound for pound number 3 in the world.

    The guy has has 2 world title fights in his career.

    His best wins and only notable wins are against Cintron, Williams and Pavlik.

    And on this Forum:
    Cintron = Joke
    Pavlik = Exposed
    Williams = Overated

    I personally think williams and Pavlik are good fighters. but looking at the rest of his career, he's not done anything else.

    Seriously someone tell me. Have I missed something here.

    Now I like Martinez, seems like a good fighter and a good guy, but to leap frog all these other fighters with much deaper resume's is absurd..

    I wouldn't recommend getting the long-term pass for this express. He is a counter-puncher who relies on speed and reflexes, but he is 35!

    I agree. To put him ahead of Marquez, Ward, and even the Klits is absurd.

    yeh glad you both agree. I was half expecting to get a bashing froma his new followers on this site.

    I agree, with both comments. the guy is 35 and relies on speed and reflexes. He also keeps his hands low so i'm sure it will be a short journey till someone catches him.

    You will get a bashing don't worry. P4P is about recent accomplishment against ranked fighters especially P4P ranked fighters. The only one that should be ahead of Martinez is maybe Marquez because he is coming of 4 impressive wins and one loss in his last five fights. Martinez KOed Cintron a fighter that has improved a lot since his losses to Margo and proved it by out boxing Angulo. After that he took part in the fight of the year losing a controversial decision to the p4p fighter Williams. Since than he beat the **** out of the MW lineal champ and made KO of the decade against the p4p number five. Wlad was kicking tomato cans by that time. Mosley lost to Floyd. Ward has only beaten Kessler he is not in the ring top ten p4p, Hopkings is not fighting anybody, Donaire is inactive. Tell me a fighter other than Marquez that should be ahead of him and we will discuss

    I have been high on sergio since Bunema. YOu could see the guy had skills. The American public did not want him for some reason and they robbed him twice to force him out but he came back and shut them all up. Now they are all sucking his .......

    its cause he been so competative with a man many (read HBO) were going to dominate from 147 to 160. He beat Cintron even tho its listed a draw ran PWill close and then startched him with Ko of the year so people will be high on him. Add to that he was expected to loose to Pavlik and hes top of people thoughts right now - he could make some serious money in his next few fights

    don't get me wrong, he's a great fighter.

    However there have been boxers in the lower wait classes, and the K bro's dominating their wait classes for a few years now, that have all been overtaken.

    Overtaken by a guy with 3 good wins.

    Name another fighter who's fought fighters as good as Bunema, Cintron, Williams x2 and Pavlik in his last 5 fights. And whatever Boxrec says, he beat Cintron and whilst the first fight with Williams was relatively close I thought Martinez won. You can make a convincing argument for him having won all his recent fights and he has looked very good in doing so.
