People voting "1" and "0" - you realize that just because AJ has four belts currently (WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO) doesn't mean that he won't eventually either drop one or be stripped between now and the end of his career or first loss, right? Shit happens all the time.

If any of those become vacant, that's some low-hanging fruit for Usyk - beat some bum with a top-10 ranking for a vacant strap, and voila.

Bearing that in mind, people still really think 0-1? :dunno

he will have to completely dominate to get a decision. no way will he get fair scorecards against a Brit or an American champ.

Completely dominate a few plodding oafs? Cool, yeah, bring it.

Lewis beat Holyfield 12-0 in their first fight, but got a draw. Usyk might not even garner a draw with a similar performance.

Usyk…… IMO he's the most skilled HW on the planet without even having a fight there yet, and I think he and then Hunter will be the two most skilled HW's in the world for a good while. He does have a good sized frame on him and carries his weight as good as if not better than any other HW in the world. He's very fast of foot, hand, and reflex and also extremely fluid, but most importantly his boxing brain is faster and greater than any other HW's as well and he adapts in-fight as good if not better than any fighter I've seen in the 3 biggest weight classes in boxing for 20-plus years. There is zero doubt in my mind that he could really crack if he sat down and committed more on his punches, I mean he has all the prerequisite tools to do so, namely the speed, functional strength, and fluidity/range of motion so I'm one of the few people that think his punching power or perceived lack of will hinder him in his HW journey. I actually think he will become recognized as more of a puncher in his move up to HW if anything. Knocking guys out -- especially at the world class level -- has much less to do with raw power than it does speed, timing, accuracy -- and he has those in spades.

I readily admit that I'm usually more biased against boxers from former Soviet countries than anywhere else, and I know that's lame and corny and pretty pathetic of me and I've been trying to change it, but I'm just being honest and sure as **** -- it's there. That said I've made progress in that area and I do really like the 3 elite world-class Ukranians out there: Loma, Usyk, and Gvozdyk. I have a ton of respect especially for Loma and Usyk for challenging themselves the way they have so far and I'd love to see them achieve all the success that they can, at the end of the day they're risking it and will have earned it, and they'll have earned it without the aid of all the intrinsic and deep rooted corruption in boxing.

I actually think Usyk will have a fairly easy time with many of the top HW's in the world, but over 12 rounds(if it lasts the distance anyways) I have a hard time envisioning Usyk beating AJ. I've really been impressed with AJ's resilience in the face of adversity, ability to stick to a fight plan in the face of adversity, patience, skill, and desire to fight the best opposition available. If they do end up fighting each other, it's gonna take A LOT for Usyk to be able to pull it out considering the size and strength he will be giving away, but of he can keep it a chess match and catch AJ cleanly and often enough to keep him from just walking him down, it'll be a hell of a fight and I wouldn't be surprised if Usyk can pull it out. I think he may end up struggling the most with SHW-sized guys who are durable and have stamina and power and just storm forward and maul him, ala Joe Joyce. I know they fought in the WSB but that was quite some time ago and as @GALVATRON pointed out -- the JJ that Usyk beat in WSB(which is also only 5 rounds) is a completely different animal the present-day JJ.

I picked 2 belts due to thinking he will take a belt from two different HW's who aren't AJ. I think people make too much out of Usyk's perceived lack of size, and that he is skilled and talented enough to more than overcome those deficits against all but a few top guys. I'd love to see him unify and become the undisputed HW champion like he did at CW and respect the hell out of him for trying. Whatever happens, it should be great fun to watch for the next few years.

To defeat Usyk you have to be Usyk...I've posted somewhere how to defeat him.

one thing I find interesting is Ali Bashir and me almost always foresee the same things..I'm a bit ahead when it comes to that ,maybe bc I'm not actually there with the actual fighters??? And he's playing it safe?

But no one studies like I do.....that being said I can counter a lot of points here but we'll wait until Usyk defeats Takam.

I can make potential puncher into real puncher , but no one really thinks about that aspect. Puncher ,can actually be transormed if you know what your doing.

I've had fighters quit on me before and they hurt their hands....and I'm the one holding the mitts. Lol

I don't even like the OP but I'm assuming you want a reaction so there it is....

    On your assessment?

Is Usyk the best skilled ?

Skill is also on effective fighting, who really does the best and struggles less with that skill ?

    Anthony Joshua.

Usyk is gonna catch 'm all! Move over pokemon go, Usyk go will be the app all the kids will play in the near future! (Most already abandoned pokemon, and we all know why).

I think he's capable, but I alao believe he won't hold on to them for long if he actually succeeds.

I expect AJ to drop at least one of the belts, most probably IBO, in the near future and that would give Usyk his opening. So, 1 is a pretty solid prediction. I still voted 5, though...:bananaride

Why should he drop the IBO one? It's a freebee that doesn't need mandatory defences, only to be lost in the ring, not fighting or by moving up/down in weight... can't see Joshi drop down to cruiser anytime soon

No belt is likely to be dropped until after all of the big 3 have fought each other. That will probably be a couple more years. Usyk will likely have either been kod by that point, or lost more than once. Who knows if he will want to keep trucking in the division after that, or if he will be the same if he does.

It may not be popular, but the simple fact is the HW division is the real division in the sport. There is a reason divisions are based on size. The best of this division would generally beat the best of the other divisions. Tastes vary, and the traits they use to accomplish this h2h dominance may not be appealing to some (personally, it's more appealing to me), but it is historically effective.

Ultimately, there is fairly little reason to believe that in an era with 3 dominant SHWs, Usyk will break the rules that smaller, movement based HWs who don't have a ton of power don't become dominant HWs.

It is funny when the moderators of a forum make silly threads. Usyk was struggling against a old Bellew until he stopped him. But yeah somehow that makes this guy a top level heavyweight. Now this guy is making his first fight at heavyweight and casual fans are making a big deal. Even if he beats Takam what would it prove? That he beat a shop worn 38 year old heavyweight that nobody ever though was good in the first place?

Anthony Joshua is 6'5 and Usyk is 6'3. I didn't know being 2 inches taller than somebody made you a giant. What is even more funny than that is how casual boxing fans act like 6'5 is tall for a heavyweight. I never heard anybody until recently say such thing. When Wlad turned pro in the 90's nobody said 6'5 was tall. Michael Grant and Lance Whitaker were 6'8 and nobody cared. Wlad was knocked out by Corrie Sanders a 6'3 guy. Ross Purrity a 6'2 guy and Lamon Brewster a 6'1 guy. But now all of the sudden casuals act like 6'5 is a giant for heavyweight standards.

Anyway Usyk has never fought a heavyweight in his career. But hey he was a cruiserweight champ right so that must mean he is one of the top heavyweights right? Sure he was struggling with a old 190 pound Tony Bellew. But who cares about that right?

I believe Usyk is packing glass that the viewers are currently unaware of!

Even Ray Charles could see Usyk is packing a glass jaw!

When I voted zero, it was under the assumption that Wilder or AJ had the belts, yeah I agree AJ could lose a belt here or there and then Usyk gets it... but the implication of the OP was really "Can Usyk dethrone a world title holder right now?"

Which I don't believe he can, hey May 25 Takam guys let's wait and see.

    See you guys in Maryland.
