It doesn't take a genius to see the detrimental health effect of so many punches to the head on professional boxers. I believe the following restrictions should be imposed, or at least similar ones.

    1. All boxers should be made to retire by age 36.
    2. Boxers should not be allowed to compete if they have 15 or more losses
    3. Boxers should not be allowed to compete if they have been knocked out (not TKOD) 10 times or more.

I love the sport, but I just hate to see my heroes suffering its effects when they could have got out earlier. :-(

Nothing scientific, they're only approximations. Somebody has to give a figure, and off the top of my head they sound about right.

I meant 36 in the title BTW

All commissions should be forced to evaluate fighters honestly.

Hard to explain to WBC HW Champion Vitali Klitschko that he should have retired 3 years ago because he's 36 :patsch

If my rule was in place, BHOP would have been forced to try to clean out the division earlier. BHOP, RJJ and Calzaghe all would have fought in their primes. I knwo BHOP and RJJ did, but the rematch would have been earlier, because none of them could afford to hang around.

There is no way that thsi would be fair, some guys peak later then other they should be more strict on the individual though and make them undergo tests to look on a yearly basis to look for brain damage at a certain point, guys like holy and roy shouldnt be licensed to fight though, I like longetivity if a fighter can keep his game going why refuse him, its hurts the sport.
They should be stricter but judge it on the individual.

some guys fight ok after 35. If anything should be mandatory it should be if a guy is stopped 5 times he should be evaluated more seriously. Mandatory age? Maybe 50 just so we do not have a ridiculous comeback. Hopkins is fighting better at 46 than many.

I agree with your point in general. I dissagree on the little things but it's nice to see people do care. The problem is for every ppv fighter there are a thousand poor guys who make little to no money and end up broke but more importantly, in bad health.

There is merit to what you say. However you are being to generic. There should tighter individual restrictions, yearly brain tests and motor tests. Speech analysis etc.

For instance cotto is far more shopworn than martinez and jones is far more shopworn than hopkins.
