All Canelo had to do for the Draw-Robbery was close out the 12th

Canelo landed some nasty uppers in the early rounds!! Landed some bombs on Bivol in Round 3. And that massive upper with Bivol against the ropes at the end of Round 4, fantastic work.

 

This thread has nothing to do with Floyd.........why even mention him. Stick to Canelo/Bivol please.

But I digress: Yes, to have Canelo so close to snatching a draw/victory is a travesty, whether the winner properly won or not. Bivol ran away with the fight and those scorecards don't reflect that at all.

 

Im not really a 'forumite' but i had this fight 8-4 Bivol.....and i dont see where Canelo done enough to have this fight as close as a 1 round swing = draw like the judges did. Since u mention GGG....i did have that as razor close and could have went either way....but Bivol controlled the fight against Canelo

 

Concerning the 12th round, Canelo has fought 60 times and has a veteran corner. He had to have known he was behind, his corner had to have known he was behind, the whole arena knew he was behind. But watch how Canelo fought the 12th, no hurry, no sense of urgency that he needed to impress or hurt Bivol. He looked sort of resigned to his fate, probably expecting his employees at ringside who scored the fight to save him, they almost did.

 

8-4 Bivol is a fine score. 9-3 Bivol to 7-5 Bivol are good scores. It comes down to how many of the first 4 you gave to Bivol, but each of those could be scored for Canelo given that he landed the best shots in those rounds. But I agree Bivol controlled the fight after the 4th round, aside from round 9.

 

Yes. The judges gave Canelo the 1st 4 rounds. That is just terrible. The closest round was 2, which I gave Canelo. By the 4th round Canelo had already started morphing into that gargoyle look.

 

And one had him beating Lara 117-111.

 

BiG Bivol did not even flinch lol

 

Did they not give Canelo the 9th? I seem to remember that being a pretty good round for him

 

Round 5 was a 10-8 round. Carrot ate a 8-punch combination without answering back. I would have stopped the fight right there.

 

It isn't an outright robbery to give Canelo the first four rounds. It's not that Bivol was beating him from pillar to post in that part of the fight. Bivol only started putting the heat on Canelo midway through round 5, when Canelo started to look spent and frustrated by not being able to land on Bivol as much as he wanted and tried to rope-a-dope Bivol to no effect. In the first 4 rounds Canelo's attack was mildly effective, arguably more effective than Bivol's. But in the rest of the fight, excluding rd 9 which Bivol clearly gave up, Canelo was clearly outworked at least 3:1. Hence the 7-5 scores.

 

Then you don't know boxing its that simple. He was lucky to win maybe 2 rounds vs Mayweather he was dominated that bad.
