I predicted that Mayweather would win, however I expected him to fight a negative fight and only get a close decision. In strategy threads leading up to the fight, I outlined a basic gameplan for Mayweather: keep his composure, throw hard shots now and again to get Hatton's respect, and plant his feet occasionally to get Hatton's (and the judges) attention. Hatton, on the other hand, didn't use a streaming flicking jab or use constant head movement, as I said he had to. He relied on his chin, and paid the penalty. While I wanted Hatton to win and I am thus disappointed by the result (all it proves are my powers of strategy, which were already fully proven) I have to give a tremendous amount of credit to PBF (more than most of his fans on here can without being hypocritical). Mayweather beat a great fighter, and put on by far the most gutsy performance of his life. For the first time in his career, he showed intenstinal and testicular fortitude as an ATG must. I haven't read the forums yet, but I'm sure Mayweather's haters have found a new hope (I suspect either Cotto or Williams) that Floyd MUST now fight. I'm not particularly adverse to Floyd- my support of Hatton was positive support of him, not negative hatred of PBF- and I can identify talent where I see it. I think, for Hatton, fighting DLH would be a mistake. If PBF can stop him inside the distance, DLH is much too dangerous as a comeback fight. I'd like to see him fight Paul Malignaggi, since that's a win-win fight for me (I'm a fan of both boxers). Whoever won this bout, as I said before it, deserved full credit. There were NO excuses for either boxer. Anyone who tries to discredit PBF's win is a wanker. Does this mean I'm now a Mayweather fan? No; I never was, and never will be, but just as I recognised Floyd's superior potential to win the fight, so I will recognise his tremendous achievement. I suppose Gayrunner isn't appropriate anymore.. Hmm... I'll have to remove the "runner" part.
