Yeah they do. But bonuses won't work in sports where there is a solo winner. Their endorsement contracts might have bonuses but those earnings off of a fight or a match are usually a fixed amount. They should have a 60/40 split for earnings because if you lose, you shouldn't get an equal share of the revenue. But I do agree with some that it would make a lot of people unhappy.
This is one of the worse ideas floating around this board. For years there was the Oscar sweepstakes. A fighter getting a 10% split fighting Oscar would get the biggest payday of their lives. The point is if a fighter is in higher demand why should they not get the lion share of the take? Perhaps maybe a 5-10% float going to the winner but its all about who has the name and is the bigger draw. Those things have to be decided on a case by case basis
No offence to the OP but I don't like it at all. Atleast not mandatory. They can write up whatever kind of split or bonus they want as long as it's agreed upon. If you want more money then start putting more butts in seats.
wlad vs the bum he is fighting, does that guy deserve 40? Guerrero does he deserve 50 for fighting floyd, PBF deserves more because he has worked at his craft longer, he has done a better job at it, nobody knows Guerrero - thats why they have to pull **** like the Gun incident to get headlines, Most know floyd. Whilst I agree on big fights & evenly matched (on ability and attraction power) fights should be like that, e.g. pac vs floyd, ward vs Froch, Froch vs Bute, Mathysse vs Peterson, Haye vs wlad etc...
If only Bernard Hopkins would have seen this logic,we would have seen a rematch with RJJ when they were both in their prime. 60/40 I kick yo' ass!
We have had some Good match-ups in recent years! The biggest star and the odds favorite should get the bigger purse!
