Rubio damn sure wasn't proclaiming himself as the next savior of the world. Canelo said "we Mexicans don't **** around". Then lays the coveted WBC belt at GGG's feet. Tell me what part of that action is not cowardly.

Yeah, he's got some good posts in another thread on the same subject. But when Canelo sets himself up like this, it's hard not to pass up the opportunity to put him on full blast.

Well technically he said that he wanted to fight GG for honor and glory, putting the belts aside.

And technically Canelo didn’t give the belt to GG. He simply vacated the belt. It was Sulaiman who proceeded to hand over the belt to GG and crown him as his new champ, just like that. Without so much as a punch thrown GG is Full Champ. That’s how the WBC crown its champs ya’ll.

And the biggest DUCK of all is when little g ran his mouth about Ward and refused to fight him because he was so scared. Piece of **** *****.

I hope so, to me it's the best fight that can be made in that weight class.

Team Canelo stated that they didn't like the pressure from WBC for negotiating the fight. THEY surrendered the belt. No one TOOK it from them. Come on, you're stretching the truth here. I'm not trying to make GGG some hero, but in this instance, he did nothing wrong for trying to fight for the 160lb WBC title at 160lb.

I’m not saying GG did anything wrong, though he mentioned a 15-day deadline for Canelo after the Khan fight. So that sounds like he and his hanlders were putting pressure on the WBC to lay the deadline down for Canelo right after he defeated Khan, thus creating the problem that we have. I’m not sure GG’s promotion is completely innocent on this, they’ve obviously been pushing the commissions to force Canelo to fight him but regardless the WBC in my view did something wrong by putting pressure on Canelo to make the fight so quickly after knocking out Amir Khan. Canelo deserved a well deserved vacation. The WBC should have allowed Canelo more time and showed more respect to Canelo throughout this process.

You said that Team Canelo surrendered the belt, that no one else took it from them. In essence it was taken from him by the actions that the WBC took. If the WBC didn’t lay down that deadline (a deadline that GG”s promotion supported and pushed) then Canelo wouldn’t have been forced to vacate. After all, had Canelo not vacated, it sounds like it would have been stripped from him on May 24th if he did not agree to GG’s terms. This is not how boxing negotiations should be handled, certainly for a fight of this magnitude, it shouldn’t be rushed, and neither side should be uncomfortable going into negotiations.

The WBC asserted too much power, urged on by GG’s promotion, to set deadlines to where if Canelo doesn’t apply he gets stripped? And you’re saying no one took the title from Canelo? In reality that’s what all of these measure resulted in. Do you think Canelo really wanted to vacate the title? He was forced to by these artificial deadlines, with a starting point that heavily favored GG’s side in negotiations.

not forgetting Froch retired to hide awy from him, Andre Ward moved up to Light heavy to avoid him (yet keeps blaming GGG) and Mayweather (who calls himself the best ever) would rather take on an Irish man making his pro boxing debut instead of proving hes an ATG like Henry Armstrong and moving up a weight
    GGG is the man

There was certainly pressure from the WBC, and even Team GGG. But these negotiations (step aside fights) began a long time ago. I can't believe that two professional teams couldn't iron out a deal for the fight. It's not as if Team Canelo only realized after beating Khan that they had to deal with GGG. It goes back to what I've been saying all along: the fight needed to be at 160lb for the 160lb title. In the end, it will always look like Team Canelo ducked, especially after giving up the belt well before the deadline. Maybe the next week or so will bring about some new updates, but as of today, it looks bad for Canelo. And again, I really want these two to fight, win/losses be damned.

Yeah, I mean I want these two to fight too. It’s the biggest most exciting fight in boxing. Everyone wants to see the fight, that’s why Canelo’s getting all this backlash for vacating the title. But now what we’re doing is trying to understand the reasons behind all this, and who is really to blame.

I think Canelo's team knew they had to deal with GG afterwards, but they were focused on fighting Khan, and after that fight it was vacation time. (as is typical after a big fight)

So while on vacation, the WBC keeps bugging him and bugging him about this deadline and this and that, and that was probably very insulting to Canelo as you can imagine.

It looks bad for Canelo because people overreact to everything they hear about in sports. Canelo vacating title sounds really bad doesn’t it. But then you take a closer look and try to understand what’s really going on, which most people don’t do. Thank goodness for ESB.

Hell, it's the main reason I'm posting at the cyclic rate today, because I'm so upset about missing out on a truly fantastic fight. Bottom line: I'm still hoping they negotiate a reasonable deal for this year.
