He gave Wilder that extra time, but when Wilder threw Ortiz on the break, he then gave Ortiz no time when he should have warned Wilder at least.

all sports are corrupt, boxing is just the worst of the "real" sports.

In retrospect, that was huge, that was critical recovery time for Wilder. Even the commentators were bothered by that. That could have affected the outcome.

    Wholeheartedly disagree.

Wilder wasn't throwing punches. He wasn't counter punching. He wasn't controlling the tempo of the fight. He wasn't pressing the action against Ortiz. He wasn't landing anywhere near as many shots as Ortiz.

If you review the punch stats round by round, along with who was the aggressor and controlled the tempo, there is NO WAY that Wilder could be up on the cards.

A knockdown wins you a round. Not the fight.

I'm glad Wilder won that conclusively as the cards were always going to stink the place out.

The ref not breaking up the holding in the 7th is my main gripe otherwise but.... when does it ever happen with the house fighter?

Entertaining fight and Wilder answered some questions whilst asking some more. He isn't a great boxer in the pure sense, but.... has explosive power, killer instinct, long arms, awkwardness, heart and chin. He is dangerous and may well beat Joshua - if he catches he will not let him off the hook.

There's no doubt that Wilder was on the backfoot and Ortiz the aggressor for most of the fight. Wilder was looking to box from range at a slow pace - he often does this against dangerous opponents - and he was able to do this for the most part. Ortiz wanted to get close and unleash his combinations but mostly couldn't or didn't do this. So I'd say Wilder was able to control the tempo. Wilder didn't counterpunch but that's not his style.

I don't know the punch stats - maybe you have seen them? It wouldn't surprise me if they showed Ortiz landing slightly more, but Wilder was landing the heavier shots.

As miserable as it is, it doesn't surprise me at all. Going into the 9th and 10th, I was thinking to myself that the judges would have Wilder ahead. This is boxing, shame does not exist in this sport.

Disgusting. To be fair to myself I only caught 3 or 4 rounds of it but I'm still going to take shots because that's what I do.

Always needs second look...fight night equals a lot of drinking...the next day actually counting punches...for me...

I'm going to say Ortiz won 3 of the 1st 4 at least...points, and effective aggression.

Agree, except the first six rounds were fitting of Klitschko-Fury level of pathetic.
