All of Jacks SMW world title fights on paper have been very close debatable fights

In 4 world title fights Jack has -
MDec to win the title against Dirrell
SD against Groves
MDraw against Bute
MDraw against Degale

Jack is a very solid SMW and I have found myself becoming a fan. It cant be helped if someone out grows a division but Jack would be a big loss to the SMW division I feel.
I thought Groves had beaten Jack and thought Degale had beaten Jack but both were very close debatable fights.
Degale, Jack and Groves all seem very evenly matched


The SMW division is being noticed since the Super 6 and fighters from the previous era are now looking very impressive in my opinion also
In 22 world title fights Ottke had 3 SDs and 1 MDec.

Discuss these decisions for the 4 title fights Jack has had.

Degale could easily have 6 losses - Groves, Wilczewski, Dirrell, Bute, Medina, Jack

 

Jacks style would have been better suited in the 15 round era

 

I thought Groves beat Degale in a very close fight. I would have to watch it again but I recall the Wilczewski fight being very close but Degale was coming off a loss and Wilczewski was a decent SMW.
I was really only talking title fights and I did think about Degale when I started the thread but on paper Degales arent all as close

 

Shows how competitive the top 5 of the division really is. That said I thought the performance he turned in last night was better than the ones against Groves, Dirrell or Bute.

 

I agree with that. He seems to get stronger or paces himself well

 

Agreed. He broke degale down and had him busted up no matter the score on the cards I feel that would have likely been a devastating tko victory for jack in a 15 round fight

Groves, Bute, and Degale were/are highly touted fighters.. but I think Jack beat them all pretty convincingly I must say.

 

I though he beat Anthony The Poodle Dirrell quite clearly.

Not seen the Bute fight but the Groves and DeGale fight could've gone the other way.

He thought Groves at a very good time with him having an absolute joke of a trainer when they thought. I'd expect a much better Groves than the one who pushed him all the way to show up in any rematch.

That said, Jack may have improved himself and have too much for Groves but it was close enough and with enough variables that we could legitimately say a rematch would be another 50/50 fight.

 

I thought he beat Bute and Groves. I've only seen the Direll fight once and that was almost 2 years ago but at the time I though the decision was fine.

Last nights fight was a good fight and I'd like to see a rematch but it looks like Jack is moving up. I scored Jack-DeGale a draw like the official decision.

So of Jack's 4 title fights I'd have him 3-0-1.
